Piece of cake, Staff!!

Post by bmbrzmn101 »

Well Staff Sgt. I survived my last sortie and your kite has no new holes in her from the Jerries.

Sorry, Just flying out of Charlton field where some of the mini series Piece of cake was filmed. I embraced my inner P/O Moggy and spirited about looking for a bridge to fly under but to no avail. So enjoy the screenies just the same.

Cheers, Chris

Pretty well done, Lewis. Would've been better if they'd had enough Hurris at the time. In the book, at least, the Hurricane is almost a central character.

Piece of cake, Staff!!

Thanks guys! I first watched it on PBS Masterpiece Theater back in the 90's. loved it then and still do. They did a very good job with it at the time. I would have loved it with the Hurricanes as well. Moggy for all his faults was my favorite character. The Spits, scenery and props were all done well. But if I recall the spits were later mks not I's or II's. Lewis now be a good chap and go watch it on you tube. It will only take 6 hours. But no Lancs!! Dudley, how about if I bring scotch for the shots?

Cheers, Chris

Sooooo, I flew my spit for a short flight today trying to find the legendary Winston Bridge that Ray Hanna flew under in Piece of Cake, and it is not modeled in fsx. Any ideas for addons or a good double to try to replicate the shot in fsx. Thanks in advance.

Scotch is good. I'm a Drambuie fan myself LOL

I've always enjoyed Piece of Cake. Ray Hanna was a friend and I knew Hoof Proudfoot slightly. Wonderful series.

Chris, have you looked into OrbX England Region, I would bet it is modeled in there.
I own the OrbX England add on, but haven't flown much in it and wouldn't know where to look for it.
Any other OrbX users here might know more, hopefully someone will pipe in with more info.

Dudley,
I was introduced to Glenlevit as a wee lad of 22 or 23 at an airshow from another flightcrew member. We also had disagreements about gin, he only liked a certain brand and he thought I was uncivilized because I was happy with any kind of gin. Lol. Survivor parties after the shows were always fun. Miss those guys. I never knew Ray, Mark, or Hoof but I have seen many of their performances on videos through the years. I have been humbled to have known and flown with some very good and interesting aviators through the years and always tried to learn from each of them. Including what to drink and what not to!

Cheers, Chris
