Not that I am aware of.
Also please do not use the words "Griffon" and "Spitfire" in the same sentence...it is just SO wrong

Kind of like thinking Bar Refaeli would be totally hot, IF ONLY she had Barbara Streisand's nose...DHenriquesA2A wrote:Don't worry. It's a form of mental illness that will passTomLovesMustangs wrote:Im sorry I just prefer the Griffon Spits to the Merlin ones dont know why though.

Forgive me for stepping out of line but I think a Griffon engined Spitfire would be awesome!TomLovesMustangs wrote:Are there any planes for any Rolls Royce Griffon powered Spitfires?.
Firstly, it would be a very interesting comparison with the earlier Merlin engined Spitfire (completely different flying characteristics)
And I really like the growl of the Griffon engine! It's like a Merlin in a really bad mood!

And double boo!!!
Personally, however, I would love to see an A2A Griffon Spitfire 14, with the highback fuselage, of course. A low back Spitfire 16 (Packard Merlin powered Mk9) for those who like to see more, and a Mk5c. You know - like this:
She's an RAAF Spitfire 5 rescued from Goodenough Island in the Pacific and now on display in the South Australian Aviation Museum in Adelaide. I've been a'travelling this last month and had to have a look in this museum specifically because they have a Spitfire. I took some more shots if anyone would like to see them. She's unusual in that she still carries an RAF serial number (EE 853) rather than an RAAF serial (A84-???).
As I've said in various Spitfire threads on this forum, I'd really love an A2A Spitfire 5C because of the variations with windscreen/propeller/wing tips and air filters, but also because the Mk5 had a single stage 2 speed supercharger, which hasn't yet been modelled properly. We have the Spitfire Mk1 with single speed single stage supercharging, and the Mustang with 2 speed 2 stage supercharging, so this would be an additional variation for those of us never likely to fly warbirds.
Cheers,
Mike
