Question on compass in between rudder pedals

Post by davegee1 »

Hi All: the Spitfire, (along with A2A's P-51, P-47, and B-17 that I own) are fantastic add-ons to Microsoft FS10. Really enjoying all the airplanes. Did a "salute" to the Queen with a low pass over Windsor Castle after takeoff to the west out of Heathrow. Hope I didn't scare her! (lol)

I have a question on the compass that lies between the rudder pedals of the Spit'. I have not been able to make sense out of it, or the airplane figure on the face of it. I have a lot of real plane experience (retired airline pilot), but I'm wondering if someone could help me understand the presentation of this compass and how it works! I'd like to use it for some navigation exercises, if possible.

Thanks,
