Well A2A you never disappoint. I treated myself to the Spit in your VE Day sale. I am more than impressed she is an absolute beauty almost vice-less handling, gives you plenty of warning as you approach the edges of the envelope. As long as you keep an eye on the temps and look after the engine she doesn't seem to want to catch you out.
Great Job, the only fault I've got is finding the time for this and my C182
What a stunner!!

Man, the Spitfire is a hell of a bird. Glad you like her. You should find hundreds of hours of fun with this bird.

Re: What a stunner!!
Hi guys,
I did the same thing. I treated my self to this beauty in the VE-Day sale. Who could say no to 25% of any A2A product ! Unfortunately I didn't have the time to fly her yet. Maybe I'll be able to take her for a spin today. Can't wait to compare her to the P-51 civ. that I have put round about 50h on yet!
Take care

Re: What a stunner!!
So I took the MkI and the MkII for a spin. Boy they are both fun. Really tough to handle with th engine temps rising so fast compared to the Mustang. But a lot easier to fly. The P-51D is a beast with its yaw tendencies. The Spit is a real joy to fly.
Thanks A2A all the planes I have from you are great!

Nice shots chaders and glad to hear you lot are enjoying the early Spitfire simulation. The Engine tends to catch a few people out with its careful management required esp at low air speeds and when on the ground.

Re: What a stunner!!
Definitely a home run with this bird. I prefer the mk1 with the 3 blade prop. Any time I'm vfr I prefer the warbirds. P40, p51, spit can't go wrong. Once I get the p47 worked out it will join the list as well.

Re: What a stunner!!
Forewarned was forearmed in my case. I'd read a lot about managing the temperature with the A2A Spitfire, so after the maiden flight, I got it to the parking spot fairly briskly and shut down. I don't think I could have delayed for very long. Lovely stuff, and thoroughly enjoyable. Again, well done to all involved with building it.Lewis - A2A wrote: The Engine tends to catch a few people out with its careful management required esp at low air speeds and when on the ground.

Re: What a stunner!!
Its the faster to cool down and slower to heat up that can catch people out.

Re: What a stunner!!
Indeed. I was thinking about the power-off descent towards the runway prior to landing - with plenty of airflow, you could build up a reserve of cool before having to taxi. I'll try it out.Lewis - A2A wrote:Its the faster to cool down and slower to heat up that can catch people out.
EDIT: Reserve of cool is a good name for a band, thinking about it.
Re: What a stunner!!
I like to open the radiator door when near the airport I am landing at. Cools down the engine and adds a little drag helping to slow down to gear, flap speed. I use the flaps only when very close to the runway. I have found that during taxiing, keeping some brisk speed going with just a little throttle, keeps her cooler longer. Rather that parked or a slow taxi, then she heats up fast.
