Should I start with mk1 or mk2?

Post by n421nj »

Got a great deal at pcaviator.com and got supermarket spitfire for 20% off so I picked it up. Should I start learning to fly the mk1 first or the mk2?

Just did my maiden flight in the mk1 with fixed pitch wooden prop. She flies like a dream, more graceful than the p40 and p51, but that could be because it was my first flight. Did 2 patterns and aced the 3 point landing both times. I took a sneak peak at the mk2 and think I like the mk1 better. Looking forward to trying out the variable pitch prop.

That is what I did. Started with the MK1 2 blade, and went from there. Found the Spit to be a great short/rough field aircraft.

Logging about 10 hrs in the various models and I can say that so far I really like the mk1 with the variable pitch prop and hand pump gear. It gives you just enough work to keep you busy but not too much that you're overwhelmed.
