PV270 - Brendon Deere MkIX - fictional repaint for WOP3 MkII

Post by Adam_NZ »

This is just to say a big THANK YOU - not just for the superb Spit, but also for the excellent paint kit.

Work in progress ... I'll put up a link to Flightsim.Com when it's done. This is Brendon Deere's Ohakea (NZ) based Spitfire - a flying tribute to Al Deere. It's only my 3rd repaint - my first Spit - and I've been having great fun doing it (and the screenshots).

I never seem to get tired of the WOP3 Spit. The only time I don't fly it is when I'm in the P-40!

Thanks for the encouragement folks!

Though I've only *finished* three paints, I've looked at/attempted a few more and gave up because the textures or repaint kits seemed totally illogical and often impossible to work with.

The way the WOP3 Spit textures are organised must be an example to others as to how it *ought* to be done. The layout makes sense and all the layers are nicely labelled.

It's hard to resist a quality add-on like the A2A Spit - but when you to see it dressed up to resemble a Spit you've often seen in Real Life ... sigh ;). It must surely boost sales globally to have dozens of A2A skins flying around the virtual skies.

The other thing is that often undefinable thing that stamps "quality" all over an add-on. Attention to detail all the way through. We've seen enough evidence of this in the fine detail of engine and systems modelling, but when you see the same care applied to the paint kit, you know you're onto a winner. Well done, A2A!

Just to let people know that I finally got round to uploading my A2A/WOP3 imitation of PV270 to Flightsim.com ...

Filename: a2a_spitfire_mkiic_pv270.zip
http://www.flightsim.com/file.php?cm=SE ... _pv270.zip

Go geddit!!!

It was a delight doing the repaint, though I think full credit ought to go to the original model makers. Every time I zoomed in to check some alignment problem, I was stunned by the detail ... the rivets, the panels etc. The vast majority of the work is A2A ... all I did was throw a coat of paint over it!!!

Would it be possible to have this exact repaint with a black spinner? :D

I have always like the Spits with the black spinner. The XVIe in Ottawa right now has a black spinner + tear drop canopy and it looks beautiful!

I think Flightsim changed their downloads coding. Try: http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/fslib.php ... fid=164627

If that doesn't work, do a search (on flightsim.com) for the file: a2a_spitfire_mkiic_pv270.zip

Also on AussieX: http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?/fil ... iib-pv270/

Hi Adam,

Lovely paint!

The white spinner would be accurate, here is a nice video of the Kiwi model.

Thanks! But ... sorry - I think you're wrong (!). I've seen this Spitfire many a time in RL and it's definitely pale green (duck egg green) - the same colour as the "AL" and fuselage stripe. It may be displaying this Sunday at Ardmore, so I could get a chance of a close up pic to prove it one way or another! BTW - we're talking about Brendon Deere's Spitfire - not Al Deere's WWII one!
