Hi. Have downloaded WOP spitfire 3 today, minus accusim at this point and very pleased with it. However unable to change the fixed pitch 2 bladed prop for a variable speed or constant speed 3 bladed unit using the Maintenance Hangar window. Both the Mk 1 and Mk 2 variants have the fixed pitch 2 blader by default. Have downloaded the 2 bladed prop patch from the download section but on opening the download find 4 DAT files with no instructions as to what I should do with them. Are they meant to be added somewhere, or do they replace 4 existing files? On searching FSX unable to find an obvious place to put them.
Hoping someone can help.

Hello,

under where you downloaded on the FAQ is explained where to place them;

'extract it to your DOCUMENTS\A2A\FSX\Spitfire folder, over-writing what is there.'

Then you should be all set to go. Any issues post here.

thanks,
Lewis

Hi Lewis.
Very grateful for your prompt and helpful reply. Worked a treat. I did search -well skimmed - the FAQs, but must have looked like a fellah, as my caregiver would say. Ofcourse have never flown a spitfire, but seems the most immersive prop driven sim aircraft I've flown by a country mile. Also delighted that a2a chose to model the early Mk 1 and 2 examples. Do find ground movements a challenge though, the tail lifts with application of brakes at anything over about 4 mph. I must be very unpopular in the maintenance hangar - several visits already for prop replacements after trying to scurry back to parking apron with one eye on an alarming radiator temp gauge. Were they really that sensitive to brake application? Anyway, couldn't be happier with a2a's rendition and thanks again.
Cheers
Eric

Hello Jafa,

it depends how you are braking I think. Dont brake to a stop also depends on your setup. If using a button then your applying full brake with each press/tap. If using pedals you can better control how much brake you are giving etc.

If you want to up the simulation then Accu-sim is recommended to really up realism.

Thanks again Lewis. I have the brakes assigned to the trigger on my Logitech twist grip. Slow learner I'm afraid but getting the hang of it. The a2a spitfire really is a wonderful aeroplane. Accusim looks a great add on but my current flight sim budget commited to Orbx's NZ North Island scenery which is about to be released. Perhaps the a2a Mustang after that.
Cheers
Eric
