Uhh......yes you are right  Makes no difference what setting I choose, however...(so reading is continously 12.2 volts.) BTW it certainly is not a biggie; just wondering what's going on.

regards
The FSUIPC setting will have no effect as the electrical system in an Accu-Sim aircraft is
programmed outside of the limited FSX environment.

I was searching for an answer to this one too. The port bulkhead has a label reading "switch off master contactor on leaving aircraft". So I am to understand that this was done from outside the cockpit? I guess the main thing that bugs me is the radio seems to be always on, that would certainly drain a battery.

Thanks,

The master Contactor is in the radio compartment behind the pilot and had to be turned off from there, along with camera heating switch etc.

The "Ground/Air" power switch was down on the starboard side behind the pilot in the Mk V at least.

It is also VITAL (and placarded) that the Pressure Head Heater (Pitot heat) switch is turned off as this is a high consumer.
I have no doubt that these things were forgotten on occasion. The number of times I have had to get or give a prop swing because some fool had left a nice big red master switch on despite the whirring gyros, I've lost count of...so "hidden" switches were a dead cert......

Gentlemen; while I never actually worked on a Spit (just too young) I was nevertheless an RAF Air Radar Tech for six years, followed by another ten as a UK-licensed Aircraft Radio Engineer and worked for three airlines during that latter period, and I will guarantee that - in the UK, at least, during that time period - a contactor was a heavy-duty relay, such as would be employed on the provision of 12 volt power to an old tube-type radio set - the TR-9, just as in the older Spitfires.

There are lots of descriptions of contactors, but this is pretty close:-
Contactor:-
A magnetically-operated device, for repeatedly establishing and interrupting an electrical power circuit. It is usually applied to devices controlling power above 5kW, whereas the term 'relay' is ordinarily employed below 5kW. The terms are often used interchangeably.

..and here is a ground-flight switch, exactly as would be used by - as Darryl has mentioned, for the Mk. V Spitfire.

with a newer version here, common to almost all aircraft throughout the '50's and 60s, perhaps even later.:
