As there is actually both a Mk.Ia Spitfire and a Mk.IIa Spitfire operating in England, I thought I would post some video links of these aircraft as they are displayed. The Mk.Ia, AR213, is operated by Sheringham Aviation, and the Mk.IIa, P7350, is of course operated by the BBMF and is an actual Battle of Britain combat vet. At present I know of at least one more Mk.I that is currently under restoration to flying condition as well.

Yes, the Gas Patch was contemplated but time was against...
They were in fact used throughout the war but after the Battle of Britain, camoflage shades came out and the yellow diamond with red outline went in favour of the cam paint.
