What might be best method for transitioning from lean cruise low rpm, to app/landing config?
(full rich, prop full forward, boost down)

ie, Trying to achieve smooth transition in the rpms on approach/landing when "swapping" back from lean cruise.

MkIIb

Mixture to Rich

Pitch up.

Wait for RPM to settle.

Power Up.

If you want to reduce power instead of increase it, then

Mixture to Rich

Power down

Watch for Boost to drop.

Pitch down.

On descent keep a reasonable amount of boost to prevent driving the engine with the airscrew and a reasonable speed to aid cooling.
Wash off speed with a break turn if necessary when ready to begin circuit.. or better still do a run and break type circuit.

Thanks, think I'll give the second one a go.

Once again, "LIKE" button needed!

I bought my Spitfire yesterday (9 June 18) and have only flown the Mk Ia around locally. Very nice. Reminds me of my '57 MGA with the MGB engine. Looking forward to an interception flight up to Angels 20 out over the Olympic Peninsula. Maybe I'll shoot down a Tu95.
