I plan to take off from Tamworth, probably to Aeropelican.
Then maybe Concrete to Orcas.
ORBx sceneries for me.

Going to be picking mine up from the Duxford museum airfield. Do some buzzing around the English countryside before planning her trip home.

I know where i'm going to fly, I think I will start off at John Wayne airport CA. Then head up too Brackett airport, then fly up to Big Bear and down onto Chino airport. There I will be practicing touch and go's.
Re: Where will your Accu-sim Spitfire 1st Flight Be?
I have been downloading all of Ian P's WWII airfields in preparation of this moment, and tomorrow, when I am downloading the WOP3 Spit, I will choose from one of those.
Re: Where will your Accu-sim Spitfire 1st Flight Be?
I will be picking mine up at Ian P's RAF Dunsfold. Not only because it was an RCAF station but also because unlike Ian P, I love Top Gear
I will probably then do a tour of several of his WWII airfields then make my way home (Vancouver, Canada).. and maybe even go the long way Unless A2A releases an Accu-sim Lancaster I don't think I'll be flying anything else for a long time, so I may as well plan a long trip.

Re: Where will your Accu-sim Spitfire 1st Flight Be?
I'll be doing some test flying out of my (real life) home airfield at Paraparaumu, New Zealand. I have a "paint shop" there that I've done some repaints for other aircraft releases (most notably the RealAir Mk IX Spitfire release) and I've already started on my first repaint for the WoP 3/Accusim Spitfire
After test-flying there, I suspect I'll go find some good WWII-era Southern England airfields/scenery and spend some time with this little beauty in its element...!

Mate, thats pretty cool...my first repaint is of an aircraft based at Hornchurch however...any idea if anyone's done that particular airfield for FSX, or any of it's sattelite fields at all?Bleddyn wrote:Google "Ian P's Dark Corner"markll wrote:After test-flying there, I suspect I'll go find some good WWII-era Southern England airfields/scenery and spend some time with this little beauty in its element...!

1) Middle Wallop... Not today. Maybe tomorrow. Depends how bad my back is - I've had a "U/S" flag stuck on me for most of today.
2) Hornchurch... Started, but not likely to be finished any time soon. The words "Hangars: Civilian x 2" are the biggest problem, as that inherently states "random size, shape, construction, doors, roof and floor". Ho hum.
If anyone has any suggestions, however, I have the peri track laid down and a flatten in the right place that just needs tweaking before I put down buildings and parking? I also need to make an "E" shaped fighter pen, so Hornchurch is still a long way off yet, even with an idea of what the hangars looked like.
I don't even have the Spit yet! Maybe next payday...

Chino, CA... at the Chino Planes of Fame!!
Re: Where will your Accu-sim Spitfire 1st Flight Be?
Well my first flight was up then down straight into the ground, mainly cus my saitek autopilot switched on and wouldn't let me control the plane, but I must admit I did a pretty poor job of flying it on my first few try's.
Will try again later.
Cheers

It won't be my first flight, but tonight I plan to recreate the flight of R6835 of 603 Squadron From Edinburgh to Hornchurch on the 27th August 1940. I havent looked at IanP's rendition of Hornchurch in FSX yet so it is going to be amazing to see it for the first time from the air as these young pilots did over 70 years ago.

Re: Where will your Accu-sim Spitfire 1st Flight Be?
First flight was out of Wittering, just tooled around before landing again.
Actually, the very first was poorly planned (just testing the sim), and I had to scramble to find the proper controls. It was set with today's date... and so as I went up the canopy iced up and so I ended up quitting and doing things proper-like (in summer too, not for visibility but to really make sure I would run in worse overheating conditions).
This time I took off, tooled around a bit, did some aerobatics and tested out the Boost Cut Out (testing how long it takes to overheat and such), boiled off half the glycol, and landed safely and successfully.
Hey, temperature management was fine until I hit the good old WEP switch. It does make me wonder how long these pilots could sustain actual combat-power dogfights, and what the 109's own cooling issues were.
The good news is the engine still looks fine. I'll call it a bit broken in.
