Re: Where will your Accu-sim Spitfire 1st Flight Be?
I will take-off at my home airport of Concord,NC and fly around a bit to get familiar to the bird and see how she handles...do a few landins and such. My first real trip will be from there to Asheville, NC. I like flying in the mountains. I an super excited to fly this spitfire. ..but even more excited about waiting for the P51-D to come out!!
Re: Where will your Accu-sim Spitfire 1st Flight Be?
Probably a few circuits with touch and goes, somewhere in Suffolk or Essex then a quick refuel and checkover, and then off to Londonderry in Northern Ireland via the Isle of Man.
Or to Cornwall along the south coast via Dover, and Isle of White.
lol it didn't like the county below Suffolk 'cos of the spelling.
Was planning a longer trip to South Africa taking the route of the Mew Gull down the west coast, following the flight path of Alex Henshaw.

Re: Where will your Accu-sim Spitfire 1st Flight Be?
With the touch and go's be very conscious of temperatures!
The ground running of the Merlin is problematic and the touch and go cycle doesn't let the engine cool at any time. Don't use anything like full power for takeoffs, keep your speed at no more than 160mph in the circuit and get the flaps up out of the way as soon as you have positive directional control on landing.
Leave the radiator full open and put gear down as late as possible on Downwind and get it up ASAP on takeoff.
If the temp climbs above 120C at ANY point, pack it in. Generally you MAY get two to three circuits before boiling provided you do your startup checklists efficiently. If you takeoff with anything over 110C on the radiator your likelihood of multiple circuits is zero. Generally they were not used in Spitifre training.
Above ALL...read and observe the checklists. There is pretty much only one way to operate the Spitty. Most others will lead to expensive noises and dramatic smoke.
Also, remember a Spitfire Circuit is a tight racetrack circuit at a maximum height of 800 feet AGL.
Good luck!!
My first flight will be Bunbury, Wagin, Cunderdin, Jandakot, Bunbury.

Probably Tamworth as that's my current default airport, but definitely taking a trip from Duxford shortly afterwards.
Can't wait to see the difference that acu-sim makes to the spit after having spent many hours in the RealAir and JF versions.

Honestly I don't know. I'm too excited to think about it lol!
Will she be releasing today? It happens to be my day off from work and school!

I will probably do a few circuits from a fairly local field in the UK called Cranfield, then buzz Bletchley Park a few times which is always a massive treat and a free airshow when the Queens Flight do that, then probably head off for a short trip over to Duxford to put her through some aerobatics if I'm confident enough by then.

Re: Where will your Accu-sim Spitfire 1st Flight Be?
I'm going to fly around Southampton/Dover for my first flight. There is a grass strip at Middle Wallop (EGVP) that looks a good starting point! It is near to the south coast.
Best regards,
Robin.
