Lvars for Cub?

Post by BrettT »

I have just been messing around with configuring my controls and got the Spit all figured out. I have moved on to the Cub and could not find a list of Lvars to use with this plane. I realize it is a pretty simple plane but there are some functions which don't appear to use FSX default controls. Is there a list available? or can I use some of the same functions from other A2A planes, ie would the lvar for the spit's primer be used for the cub?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Brett

Hello Brett,

no list exists for the cub. You can use FSUIPC to create a list though for yourself though.

thanks,

Hi Tom,

I found the following tutorial by guenseli (who sometimes posts on the forums here) very helpful in describing this:
Tutorial: how to get LUA Vars or commands out of FS. Unfortunately the screenshot links are dead, but you should still be able to follow it.

Cheers,
Nick

It is quite simple. When in the aircraft open FSUIPC4 from the drop-down menu.

Open the Buttons+Switches tab. Chose a button or switch on your controller
to use as a temporarily trigger for the operation.

Press the button/switch and on the right hand side of the menu check "Select for FS control "

In the "Control sent when button pressed" menu, scroll down to the control "List Local Panel Vars"

Click OK and back in the cockpit hit the chosen button/switch ONCE.

Open FSUIPC4 again and under the Logging tab, select "New Log" then go back to the
Buttons+Switches tab and clear the assignment that you made to list the variables.

Hit OK and now go to your Modules folder. Find the file "FSUIPC4.1.log" and open it in Notepad
or your text editor of choice. You will find, after all the usual FSUIPC4 log activity, a list of all
the L:Vars for that aircraft.

The first thing I do is remove all the usual stuff down to the line ID'ing the aircraft just above
the L:Var list. Then I do a "find and replace" operation to remove the time stamps on the
left side of the list. Save the file with whatever name you chose for future reference.

Here is the top of my list for the J3 that I captured a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away :)

********* FSUIPC4, Version 4.541 by Pete Dowson *********
1613891 Aircraft="A2A Piper Cub"
1613891 Panel includes these local variables:
L:Propeller1DiskVis = 0.000000
L:Prop1Strike = 0.000000
L:ControlsStickLockOn = 0.000000
L:Parked = 0.000000
L:Glasses2 = 0.000000
L:Glasses1 = 1.000000
L:Volume = 6000.000000
L:VolumePct = 0.000000
L:OAT = 36.549330
L:OATc = 0.000000
L:CabinTemp = 36.554530
L:CabinTempC = 0.000000
L:ColdDarkAble = 0.000000
L:AccuSimInstalled = 1.000000

Hope this helps.

Paul
