We haven't heard from Davidal since his opening post. Did he get the shadows to work? Is he off on holiday? Has he had an accident? I do hope he's OK.

This is an old thead but I still hope for a solution.

As discussed before, the J3 cockpit panel does not show shadows in DX10 mode, except on the instruments. There might be a problem with the panel texture, which seems to be different on all other A2A aircraft, where I don't have this problem. Has anybody found a solution here like alternative vc texture files or special DX10 fixer settings?

Hello,

check your dx10 documentation there's a way to force the fixer to create shadows for non dx10 aircraft. Cant remember of the top of my head what its exact name is. Something along the lines force dx10 cockpit or something.

thanks,
Lewis

Hi Lewis

Thanks for the tip. There are actually two possible setting oprtions in the DX10 fixer:

Legacy Aircraft Self Shadow
Legacy Aircraft Force Shadows

Unfortunately, neither of them enables the shadows on the panel. As said before it is not a general shadow problem here, as the J3 shows all VC shadows as expected, except those on th panel. It looks quite funny if the shadows move over the panel and only the instruments show them, but not the panel itself.

I suppose there is a little problem with the panel texture. But what I can see from videos taken with the J3 in P3D, those shadows are possible. The question is whether you changed something from the FSX version to the P3D version in this respect.

Hello Felix,

the Cub doesn't have any version for the P3D platform at the time of this post.

thanks,

Have a look here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=al2DZ6WzWVU

The shadows obviously work well here. If so, the J3 panel seems to be one of the rare exceptions that don't work correctly in DX10 mode with DX10 fixer...
