SimConnect

Post by thunderstreak »

Purchased and installed the Cub today but have a problem.

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
FSX Acceleration.
Latest version of FSUIPC (registered)

When I load the Cub for a flight I get the following message:
FSX SimConnect failure, some Cub features will be disabled. Please restart FSX.

I tried the SimConnect repair in the FAQ section but Windows won't let me delete the 3 files mentioned.

Any ideas?

This error message confirms that the core simconnect is not functioning correctly. Probably the easist thing to do is uninstall either ServicePack2 and ServicePack1 or Acceleration, then re-install.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled acceleration, but it didn't help!
I finally figured out how to delete the 3 SimConnect files, but now can't get them to reinstall.
I tried reinstalling acceleration twice, even tried to repair the original FSX without any success!
I tried reinstalling SimConnect from the Acceleration SDK without any success!
I have read on Pete Dowson's (FSUIPC) page that removing and reinstalling FSX can cause SimConnect problems.

Also I hadn't turned UAC off when I originally installed Windows 7 and think that even though it is off now, it might have left some permission issues behind.

Fortunately I am at the early stages of reinstalling FSX and the Cub was the first add-on I was installing.
I think I will start transfering all my downloads to another PC and format the mess!
If I start with a fresh W7 install with all I have learned maybe I will have more luck the second time around!

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

**UPDATE**
Fresh install of Windows 7.
Fresh install of FSX & Acceleration on a seperate drive instead of default location.
Installed the Cub & Accu-Sim.
I still have the same SimConnect Error...............BUT..............
I right clicked on the error message to close it and carried on.
The Cub and Heidi performed flawlessly, she is a riot!
Anyways, confused as to the cause of the error, especially since everything seems to be working fine.

Going to install the Spit and P-47 next!!
