Do we dare hope that A2A J3 Cub will ever be up-dated to P3dv3 v3?

Re: J3 Up-date
Well, I definitely dare to hope! Whether this hope is justified or not is a different question though
I have the Cub installed in P3Dv3, and it is running quite well. The biggest issue for me is the float version performance when trying to take off, seems that P3D water is somewhat different from FSX water. And since the Cub is the only A2A float plane ...

Hi Hans
I have FR Super Cub Ultra and it has the same problem....all float planes suffer the same problem.

Open the Aircraft.cfg for the float version in notepad and add the following line to the [contact_points] section
always_use_avg_surface=1
It should now use the old FSX water physics and takeoff normally.

Thanks Dangerous Beans, but unfortunately this doesn't seem to change anything for me. Still very difficult to get the Cub out of the water.Dangerous Beans wrote:Open the Aircraft.cfg for the float version in notepad and add the following line to the [contact_points] section

So A2A, there is still a need for a native A2A P3D float plane ...

Re: J3 Up-date
I have to admit I hadn't tested it with the A2A Cub but I just did and your right It does take off OK if you turn Accusim off though but who would want to fly the Cub without Accusim.
I does work with the FSX Goose and any planes that rely on the default FSX physics though.
The main thing the setting douse is stop the planes bouncing about erratically on the water if you have water detail set to ultra. It depends on the plane on how badly its effected, the Goose for instance goes mental and the Aerosoft Bushhawk isn't to bad.
I'l have to test some others some time but at the moment I'm having too much fun scaring myself in jets round the mach loop

Re: J3 Up-date
Ah, thanks for the explanation. Unfortunately I do not have any other float plane in my virtual hangar, and also no FSX installed any more. So I will continue to hope that someday someone comes up with a real nice P3D float plane.
Have fun with your jets!

The Aerosoft Bushhawk XP is a wonderful float plane in P3D. That said, I sent you a PM with some .cfg entries for the cub that should alleviate the water operation woes.TheGreenToad wrote:Ah, thanks for the explanation. Can you PM me with that same file? I'd appreciate it.taildraggin68 wrote:The Aerosoft Bushhawk XP is a wonderful float plane in P3D.
