Adding GPS icon to the J3 panel

Post by psmuniz »

Guys,
I want to add a GPS icon (gauge) to the J3 Cub panel, to avoid open/close the GPS by the instrument panel on the Views menu. Have you an idea of how to do that?
Thaks in advance for your help.

Hello Paulo,

rather than use the views menu you can also use the default shift + 2,3,4,5 etc to pop up the 2D Panels, these are also mappable in FSX or P3D and can be mapped to other keys or buttons etc.

thanks,
Lewis

Hi Lewis,
Thanks for your hint, which gave me the keywords to search for a solution.
a) I defined a subpanel (Window01=GPS) in the [Window Titles] section of the panel.cfg file. This windows does not have any gauge attached.
b) I commented the original [Window01] entries, substituting them for the following entries found on the Internet:
// Garmin 500 with shift + 2 (keyboard mapping)
Background_Color=0,0,0
size_mm=456,378
window_size=0.5
position=8
visible=0
ident=GPS_PANEL
gauge19=fs9gps!gps_500, 0,0

Now, gps is popping up/down as a subpanel of the Piper Cub J-3 (shift+2).
