Could this be post or really late in the war? I note the tracked vehicle right in the background and wonder if its German, maybe captured or if the image was post war at an old Luftwaffe base.

Might as well be M29 Weasel or British Universal Carrier. It's hard to tell from the vehicle alone.

Of course there was the L19 cessna birddog or the cub in the battle of the bulge film.That carrier in the photo could well be a bren gun carrier or to name it correctly a universal carrier very difficult to see though

The B-24 is from the 409th Bomb Squadron, 93rd Bomb Group, based at Hardwick, England. The L-4 in the photo is just one of a number of "hacks" used by Bomb Groups throughout England during the war (a number of AT-6 Texans, Norsemans, L-4's, etc., were used as squadron hacks in England by various Fighter/Bomber units). The tracked vehicle in the background is a Cletrac, a common sight at USAAF bases throughout England, especially the bomber bases.
