Re: Cub In The Meadow
On one of the few sunny days that England has. I've spent a lot of time stationed in England at Mildenhall AB, flying C-130Es. I still remember all the rain we use to get. I was in England however during the summer of 1976, when you had the drought and most of the flower gardens were closed to visitors to protect the gardens. England is very beautiful when the sun is out and every thing is green! My favorite thing to do was walk down to the village of Mildenhall, and find a place to drink tea with the older locals. It was pretty neat to get them talking about WWII. I could listen to their stories for hours.

Oh yes, the crew and I spent a lot of time in the pubs ("Bird in the Hand" just out side the military gate for one). The pubs, the people, and fish & chips wrapped in newspaper are some of my favorite memories of England.

I too enjoy a stop at the Bird in the Hand whenever I pass through! Looking forward to having the chance to get a bit further from base in the future, though.
