I've looked around for someone else with this problem, but haven't found anything...

I just installed my new A2A Cub and Accu-sim a few days ago, and am loving it! But today I resumed a trip I was on, and though the oil temp gauge rises, and the engine health shows "Excellent", my Cub continues to run rough and noisy. Previously, it would settle down after somewhere around 3-5 mins of idling. Now, I've sat idling for more than 15 minutes with no change, and even flown for a half-hour with no change.

Am I missing something?? If this is a burp, is there something I can do to fix it -- other than uninstalling and reinstalling the airplane, I mean??

FWIW, my engine had 26 hours on it -- and I did an overhaul, and it made no difference...

Thanks in advance for any answers.

Can you describe exactly what you mean when you say it is running rough?

I'm still new to this and am yet learning what's normal and what's not -- but here's what I observed:

On cold start-up, the cub makes a fairly loud "chattery" noise along with the engine's ordinary sound, and appears to add a good deal of extra engine (and airframe) vibration. On all start-ups prior to this one, the "chattery" sound would go away (or at least, lessen a great deal), and the "shakes" would reduce, too, after just a few minutes. More than one, but less than five, if I'm recalling correctly...

Now, I HAVE actually gotten rid of the symptom... I started a flight with the float version of the cub (which keeps its own accumulation of hours and 'events', separate from the ordinary wheeled version...), and while in mid-flight with that model, switched to the 'regular' version. I'd tried everything else I could think of expect for a reinstall -- glad that worked!

But I keep half-expecting it to do it again... If anyone else has had the same experience, and found the cause, I'd love to be more informed next time.

On another note (and I may need to start a new thread for this...?), I've noticed that all the cool added sounds (engine noise, wind through an open window, frame creaks, etc) aren't fed through the "Sounds" (ambient sounds) channel, but rather through the "Voice" (usually reserved for ATC, intercom, etc) channel. Since I use my headset for comms with ATC, etc, it would sure be nice to have these new "ambient" sounds coming through my speakers--as the rest of the airplane sounds do, rather than through my headset where I should only be hearing speech-sounds.

I've looked around for a way to change a setting or something for that, but haven't found anything yet... Anyone else know how to "fix" that? Is there a aircraft.cfg entry that can be altered?

Thanks again!
Drizzle

Okay, I think maybe I've figured this out... What I thought was a problem is actually a feature. Since the A2A Accu-Sim sounds were playing through my headset instead of my speakers to begin with, some of them sounded a bit strange and too loud. Now that I've got them playing through the speakers where they belong (THANK YOU Cody Valkyrie!!), I believe the 'chatter' I was hearing is simply valve clatter, and is intended to enhance the sound of the engine. It's the fact that the sound was cutting out that was the problem.

I still lose that clatter sound sometimes, but now it's usually not till I've been flying for at least an hour or two -- not within just a few minutes, as was happening early on....

So, the plane has a glitch or two... I'd still say it's a dang fine airplane, and if that's the worse of my glitches, I'm pretty happy. :D
