Hello Fellow Cub Pilots,

Recently while browsing my local bookstore I found book called "The Greatest Flying Stories Ever Told". It has many good stories; most of the time it would be just a memorable part of some book. I ordered 4 books because of it. Anyway, I learned about book called "Flight of Passage" by Rinker Buck (reading it right now). It is about to brothers (Rinker and Kernham Bucks) who restored Piper Cub and flew it across the US in 60s. They were youngest people to do it at the time 15 and 17. It is really well written and really interesting to read. On top of all you can follow their adventure flying cub in FSX.

I just decided to share it with you, some will definitely like this book.

Best

I just read that book and I loved that story. Even went to the trouble of going back through and routing out their trip. I have flown about half of it.
Of course things aren't quite the same as the time period in which the story is depicted. Also had to more or less guess where their departing airport was.
Its a great book, very informative on some "flying" books to read.
I'm glad you brought it up.

I listened to this book in audio format (it's beautifully read). I just had to have a hard print version after that.

Even without the aviation interest, this is an incredibly well written book. Insightful, sensitive and often quite funny. The relationships between the two brothers and to their father is described wonderfully.

I'm a massive reader - and "Flight of Passage" is in my top three of best books, aviation related or not.

Adam.

When I was in the hospital recovering from heart surgery my sister gave me this book to read. It is a great and easy book to read. I have flown parts of their route across country in the simulator. (Wish I could do it in RL)

Yes, very good book. Not a J-3, but close, I believe it was a PA-11 (minor design changes from the J-3, and an 85 hp engine.)
