I started this new 'sticky' topic so that repainters have a place to display and discuss their current 'work in progress' repaints as the Repaint Repository topic was becoming very confusing and messy. Please use this topic for WIP's and post your finished repaints (with information on where they can be found) here......

Thanks for your assistance.

Re: A2A Piper J-3 Cub Repaint WIP's
Here's an almost complete repaint based on a real world Super Cub and on a request by lawdawg. All that is missing is a heavy dirt job which I'm gonna tackle tomorrow and a fix for a miscoloration at the rear side windows.

Wow, that's some smoking hot paint. Can't wait to see (and fly) it in a somewhat dirtier version. Great job!!!
Edit: Just spotted something in one of the pics ...
Is that (circled) intentional? It does look like the red and black don't line up correctly.
Keep up the good work!

Re: A2A Piper J-3 Cub Repaint WIP's
Hey everybody, my first post here.
Very nice work with all the Cubs! I really like the beat up looking BUC, and enjoy going thru the startup procedure to fly all these paints around. I would like to share a WIP I started a couple days ago with my spare time.
It is actually a J-2 I am attempting to recreate, but it should do OK on the J-3 I assume.
The aircraft is:
"1319 was a Taylor J-2 built in Bradford PA and sold to a Danish distributor for assembly and resale in Europe. It had the fuselage number OY-DUP. Evidently the Germans rounded up all the Taylor and Piper Cubs in Denmark, including an E-2 as well as the more common J-2 and J-3 models. " (quoted from HERE)
Beware it does bear the swastika; it represents history, and in no way glorifies the Nazi party.
And here is a link to the 1080p screenshot of my unfinished work: IMG 1mb
If anyone can give some criticism, especially something helpful about distressed textures, that would be awesome. I still need to really dirty up the wings and finish the "Don't Shoot" part on the nose. I'm also trying hard to find the other side of the plane. And if anyone knows for sure, what colors were on the real aircraft, please do tell. I have a PDF color chart of every Luftwaffe color and just don't know which one to use due to all the source photos being sepia or black-n-white.

Oh now that is awesome work!
Love the beat up, pressed into German service look of the non standard birds like these, just as much as I love the late war semi finished paints of the later Japanese aircraft.

Re: A2A Piper J-3 Cub Repaint WIP's
I've made some more progress on GP-QG 1319. And I think I may have the other side to work with now. Well, a piece of it anyway. I still can't find a full-on shot of the starboard side.
But, short of a few tweaks here and there, I think I'm satisfied with this side for now and I'm going to move on to do other parts: (click for bigger pic)
PBucket seems to be scaling my hi-res screens down. Not sure. How are you all getting those beautiful large images? Do you host elsewhere?
I absolutely love the hand-tow feature on the cub, but sometimes you feel like a nut! This is how I swing it out of the gate
And here is now what I have so far, on the other side:
