Scott,

As you mentioned in another thread there is no mixture lever in your J-3 model so I wanted to ask why you chose to leave it out. I noticed this after I bought it by comparing it to the default J-3 in FSX but I just assumed that it was a result of there being different versions of the Cub out in real life and you just modeled a different version. But it sounds like this is not actually the case and you intentionally left it out? Given the level of detail you have put into this plane it seems a bit surprising. The attraction of the Accu-Sim model, for me at least, is the ability to manage the life and well being of the engine, managing the fuel mixture is a key variable in that equation.

The reason is easy: the Cub doesn't have a mixture lever in the real world either. Or to quote the Accu-Sim manual (which is available as a download for everyone before purchase)

"The J-3 Cub has a fixed mixture so no mixture lever is installed, however, the air-fuel system is fully modeled and operational"

I didn't get a chance yet to read all 200+ total pages of the two manuals so I missed that. Just skimmed through it. Thanks. So it was just MSFT adding things to the default plane that don't exist.

But I do know one thing that Scott forgot to put in this model - the water bag!
(Read the book Flight of Passage for context)

I've seen Cubs that have mixture controls. It's often due to the higer powered engine that is installed (85hp or 90hp) rather than using the default 65hp engine. With those higher engines my guess is that the Cub then becomes a "workhorse" of some sort and a little more practical than the stock version.
