Hello folks...

I've posted this over at Sim-Outhouse, but will post it here as well, as this is the model that the scenery was designed to work with.

Someone, carefully not mentioning Lewis's name (oops! too late! ) has been asking for scenery again, this time designed to fly the Accu-Sim Cub out of. The place he wanted it was unfortunately utterly boring in FSX so I went charging off and found somewhere vaguely appropriate. Unfortunately, not only did it have no default airport to update, the whole town didn't exist!

So. Cue me spending hours reading forums, muttering darkly and playing with SBuliderX to replace a default inlet with a vastly more accurate coastline, create a town, add a load of lakes and plop down a little airport suitable for Piper Cubs. Unfortunately, I don't actually have the the Accu-Sim Cub yet (it's top of the list for payday) so I need people to actually check that the Cub can get into, out of and generally mess about with this scenery. Lewis isn't around, so... Anyone else interested?

There's no readme yet, but it's just a case of dropping the folder in "Addon Scenery" and adding it using the Scenery Library inside FSX. It's all default objects and there's a tiny amount of AI using the default Cub and a Maule.

If anyone wants to have a play and complain that bits don't work, it's available here: http://www.ianpsdarkcorner.co.uk/fictio ... E_v0_1.zip

Any comments, rude or otherwise, greatly appreciated.

And if anyone feels this is inappropriate for the forum, please feel free to boot it elsewhere or delete it.

Cheers!

Ian P.

It's in Newfoundland, not a million miles away from Gander.

I know there's not much else up there right now, but if this one doesn't blow up anyone's PC, I'll try and make some more. I'm particularly looking at putting something in the Random Islands... Well, you just have to put something random there, don't you?

I just grabbed your file Ian and will check to see if the Cub will get in and out OK.

EDIT: OK I just spent about 10 minutes in your scenery Ian and it looks very nice. I can land the solo Cub from either end with no problems and likewise with Heidi in the front. I didn't try on water but that shouldn't be a problem as it looks like there is enough water to get the Cub up.

I didn't check but did you add a water runway there too? It might be an idea if it's possible as the float guys could start off in the water then.

I liked the rising ground at the inshore end of the runway too, it certainly adds to the feel of the place.

I lock my frames at 30 and I was seeing 24-27 around the scenery which is about what I get in the Cub anywhere else so that looks good too.

I will try and get some more time in there later but as my wife and I are dog sitting our 9.5 week old puppy's brother for the weekend things are a bit hectic around here at the moment. Considering that the breeder just told us that these two were best buddies until they went to their new homes a couple of weeks ago you wouldn't believe it from the dominance issues and non-play fighting they are exhibiting now! It's going to be a long weekend of constant vigilance I can see.

There have been a few issues identified with the first version, so I've done a little more work (turned the land runway away from the water tower at max autogen, yet more lakes, moved the storage tanks in the town apart) and uploaded a version 0.2.

Unfortunately, correcting a flatten issue has removed the bit of raised land you like. SBuilderX is being a total PITA, in that every time I change the SBuilderX file and compile it, it deletes most of the work I've done, so I'm unfortunately not in a position to go back in and do some polygon shuffling to put the rise back in. Sorry!

Version 0.2 is available here: http://www.ianpsdarkcorner.co.uk/fictio ... E_v0_2.zip

With the SBuilderX issues I'm now having, it's unlikely to change much more than this because I'm sick of having to redraw the same lakes every time I hit "compile"!

Edit: If you want to see the changes I've made - before SBuilderX deleted them all again - I've uploaded two screenshots to the thread over at SOH, here: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/s ... hp?t=22623

Cheers,

Ian P.
