Crashing to blue screen [resolved - updated sound drivers]

Post by CODY614 »

Hi guys...Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
But As soon as I select the basic Cub I get the prompt for "A2A_PiperSound.DLL.
When I go through the clicks to allow and accept...Boom!
Then I get a blue screen that last for a nano second...and the computer "ReBoots!"
No CTD....It actually restarts?
Any way....
Windows XP Home SP2
FSX with Acceleration
SB Audigy 2 ZS...???
I have had this happen with other stuff and keeping the Advanced Audio Properties/Performance/Hardware Acceleration turned down and I normally don't have these problems.
Please help if you can.

If your having these priblems in other stuff and having accel turned down fixes it then it sounds like corupt and or messed up driver installation. Have you tried updating drivers for the audigy?

Approaching this as a fix for everything not just the cub id try completely reinstalling the sound card by downloading new drivers, then uninstalling via device manger and when re-installing using the newer drivers you have downloaded.

Make absolutely sure you have the latest sound drivers for your sound card. This is a common issue if the latest drivers are not loaded.

BTW to stop windows from restarting when you get a BSOD
Right click My Computer and choose properties.
Click the Advanced tab and under Startup and Recovery click settings.
Under System Failure untick Automatically restart.

At least then you'l get a chance to read the BSOD to see what's caused it.

Well...It was the drivers...
I had installed a newer, bigger hard drive a couple of months ago.
I'm guessing updating the sound card wasn't done!
All is good...

Great stuff, hopefully its a system wide thing so sound should be working for everything you were having problems with not just the cub 8)

Just one of those..."I got into a hurry after the new hard drive install."
Dodo Sim's Jetranger did the same thing when I re-installed it but I just turned down the Acceleration and all was good! "DOH."
