Turbo Lever through FSUIPC

Post by deimos256 »

I have all my controls managed through FSUIPC which means I have them turned off in FSX. Now prior to this I had the axis for the turbo working fine through my CH setup, however now that I have moved to FSUIPC I cannot seem to map the axis. Surely I cannot be the only one who has had this issue, is there a certain command I have to map to that axis? Thanks.

I use the Input Configurator to map the Turbo to an axis on my system. In fact that
is the only mapping I do for the P-47 via the Configurator. Everything else is done
via FSUIPC4.

That's how I have it mapped but when I moved to FSUIPC I disabled all controllers in FSX as instructed so that you don't have FSUIPC commands stepping on FSX mapped ones and vice versa. Disabling controllers within FSX also kills the axis assignment that was set up in the configurator. WHat I wound up having to do was re-enable controllers in FSX and just go through and remove all joystick mappings. I feel like there should be some sort of command within FSX that's aliased to that axis. Oh well.

There my be an L:Variable that you can include in an MCRO file so that
FSUIPC4 is 'aware' of the turbo, in which case it would appear in the
drop-down menus.

I'll have a look at my full list of P-47 L:Vars and see if I can find it there.

I have my controllers enables but have disabled the various mappings,
thus my Configurator assignment works fine.

EDIT:
OK, checked my L:Var dump for the P-47 and found these possibilities. I think
the first one is most likely the one to check out:

L:LeverTurbocharger
L:Turbocharger1

Hi deimos,

I also use FSUIPC to map most of my controls and the A2A input configurator to suppliment that. I found that the enable controllers check box in FSX controls must be checked to use the configurator. Then delete all joystick assignments in the controls menu.

I also edited the standard.xml removing any controller assignments there. I think this is detailed in the FSUIPC installation instructions. I'll post more info when I get back to my PC later today.

Hi deimos,

Sorry I didn't post this yesterday - sounds like you have it sorted anyway.

So I didn't find any mention of the standard.xml in the FSUIPC installation instructions, I don't know where I read that. Anyway, here is the controller section from my standard.xml found in the default location of C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\Controls.

As you can see, the entries are 'empty'. If the empty entries are not there, when FSX sees the controllers connected it will add the default assignments from the backup standard.xml in the FSX directory. This happens if Enable Controller(s) is checked in the FSX Settings\Controls menus, whether FSUIPC is used for controllers or not.

Hope this helps you or someone else struggling with controller assignments...
