Sometimes before takeoff the carby temp rises quite a bit before the CHT is anywhere the green ark (cool). I have tried leaving the cowl flaps closed & the intercooler flaps fully open but the CAT still gets a bit high before takeoff (not out of green but very close to it). Do you guys have any pilot hints as to what I should do to keep the CAT & CHT about right?

Keep your intercoolers and oil coolers set to neutral (which is normally good in all regimes of flight, at least for me), and keep your cowl flaps WIDE open. You want as much airflow over that large engine as possible while on the ground. It will creep up a bit, but you should be fine.

Remember what CAT is when idling on the ground. It's the air temp plus added heat from the engine. If you are on hot pavement in the day, it can get quite high - this is normal.

Scott.
