Well, I just tried it on my install. However I must admit that I have Accusim, but for these tests selected accusim OFF. I selected "cold start" and then put the fuel selector to main tank (there's no need to turn on the emergency boost pump as there is a boost pump working in the main tank whenever it is selected), battery on, generator on, mixture full rich, magnetos both, cracked the throttle a bit open and activated the starter which means exactly:
"grab" the switch with your mouse, pull it left and then - without letting go - pull it right and hold it there. I did it five times and it worked all the time.

As for your question about AccuSim: Yes, it's worth every penny

Well I figured it out...since I don't (yet) have Accu-Sim, I turned it off on the mini panel, and my starter works now. I had Accu-Sim turned on, and it wouldn't work.

Hey, I just want to add something that goes back to the original post about the mini panel only coming up with the F10 key. I just had to do a complete reinstall of FSX+Acceleration, and this time I let the program install to the default location of Program Files (x86). I usually install all of my games outside of the Program Files folders when using Vista because Vista tends to be a nuisance to fully letting some programs do their job. Anyhow, I then installed the P-47 and Accusim and I discovered that I have the same problem with the mini-panel only appearing with F10. Furthermore, all of the other F keys that are supposed to be specially assigned for the WOP3 P-47 seem to only be able to use their FSX default functions. I tried disabling Vista's User Account Control but this didn't solve the problem.

My next step is to completely reinstall FSX and Acceleration to a folder outside the Program Files folders like I had before my harddrive crash.

Edit: Disregard. Two weeks without my P-47 made me completely forget that the new panels are accessed by "Shift" plus the number keys.

The follow-up to this is that I completely uninstalled FSX from the Program Files (x86) folder and reinstalled to the C:// but not in a Program Files folder. That's when I remembered that I needed to use the Shift+2 through 7 keys and not the F2 through F7 keys. "Okay," I thought, I'll uninstall and reinstall FSX to the default Program Files location so that maybe I can make scenery design programs like EZ Object Placer finally work for me.

Alas, once FSX was reinstalled to the Program Files (x86) folder I couldn't get AccuSim to remember the health status of my aircraft. Every restart gave me an aircraft in excellent condition regardless of the abuse I had piled on the airframe and engine. So, I uninstalled FSX/Acceleration and the P-47 yet again and reinstalled everything back to the C:// but outside of Program Files (x86).

Now the P-47 and AccuSim are working correctly again.
