Sorry for the huge size but I didn't have the heart to chop this one. It's one of those shots that gives me the feeling of what it must have been like for these magnificant aircraft spending most of their time over water on some of the longest missions of the war.

That's what it was like sometimes, but most times we saw those brilliant white fluffy cathedrals in the sky as towering cumulous, against a background of blue, with shafts of sunlight shining beween them.

WOW that's a picture worth framing!

Ya know, I think one day I may have to give this bird a try. First though I'll have to buy some 76.4m scenery for the pacific.

Wasn't "Lucky Lady" the '29 that flew nonstop around the world with Col. "Cruise Control" Irvine the Flight Engineer?

I believe so AC, It was named Lucky Lady II though I think.

That was "Lucky Lady II." If I'm not mistaken (and if I am, please don't hesitate to let me know!) that was a B-50.

Guys, I found a shot of one of the " Lucky Lady" B-29s, but it's a tight shot showing only the nose art and is in black and white.
She's #42-34584 "X" tail, 9th BG.

There were also at least 5 other B-29s that flew as the Lucky Lady during WWII.

Diamond tail in China and then Triangle N 44 tail at Tinian, 444th BG
Went down in a training accident.

Survived the war.

There was also a Lucky Lady that flew for the 498th BG
