B377 Panel - IRL BAHF Angel of Deliverance

Post by jdekonty »

I'm with the Berlin Airlift Historical Foundation and I'm using the excellent 377 sim to be more ready when it's time to do RW flying in our C-97. I'd like to modify the panel just slightly and have a modern DG and VOR/ILS indicator in place of the period-correct items (on both the Pilot and Co-pilot side since I'm training to be a co-pilot.)

Any panel experts out there that can help me out?

As a gift to anyone who tries to help - here's a really shaky, badly filmed video I took of the departure from Floyd Bennett Field in November. There's just a bit of emotion involved after 17 years of restoration!

Hi.
I have looked in the panel.cfg , there is no way individuals like me , can modify this panel , Scott and the A2A team are the only ones who could do this for you.

Well, the emotion is right in line with the event! Congratulations on a stunning achievement. Sadly, I can't be of any use regarding the gauge modification either.

Jeff,

I'd send Scott a direct e-mail or PM him via the forum. As the gauges are 3D, any change like that requires the model itself to be modified. I'm sure he'd be happy to see if the team can work the modification into the schedule for the BAHF sim setup as it already has a couple of "custom" options already installed.

Thanks for the input, guys. As far as replacing the gauges in the VC, I suspected as much. Having successfully tinkered with the panel file to put in a Garmin GPS in its own window, I was wondering if there might be a way to add out-of-the-box gauges to that window so that I could stick it somewhere and have it for reference.

Here's the bit from the .cfg file that I used to do that:

[Window07]
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=456,378
position=8
visible=1
ident=GPS_PANEL
window_size=0.5

gauge00=fs9gps!gps_500, 0,0

Hi jdekonty,

Can you post a simple diagram of exactly what gauges you want where? I can then see what can be done to customize this for you. Tim Choppe has all my contact info if you want to also just give me a call as well.

Drat! So much for my sneaking suspicion that A2A was already doing a C-97 mod for the B377, at the request of the BAHF. :(

Thanks, Scott! Actually, I'm good. It may or may not be the case that I have just a wee bit better comfort level with computers than my dear friend Tim. I just cheated and added the following to the Panel.cfg file:

// Added to the [Windows Titles] section:
Window07=GPS
Window08=IFR

//Added to the Window definition section. Overkill, perhaps, but it works for me!

[Window07]
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=645,378
position=8
visible=1
ident=GPS_PANEL
window_size=0.5

gauge00=fs9gps!gps_500, 0,0,456,378
gauge01=Cessna!Heading_Indicator, 457,0, 189,189
gauge02=CessnaWAlpha!VOR1_Alpha, 457,190,189,189

[Window08]
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=320,160
position=9
visible=1
ident=IFR_PANEL
window_size=0.5

gauge00=Cessna172!Airspeed, 0,0,80,80
gauge01=CessnaWAlpha!Attitude_Alpha, 81,0,80,80
gauge02=Cessna!Altimeter, 161,0,80,80
gauge03=Cessna!Turn_Indicator, 0,81,80,80
gauge04=Cessna!Heading_Indicator, 81,81,80,80
gauge05=Cessna!Vertical_Speed, 161,81,80,80
gauge06=CessnaWAlpha!VOR1_Alpha, 241,0,80,80
gauge07=CessnaWAlpha!VOR2_Alpha, 241,81,80,80

jdekonty,

OK good to hear. All of the gauges you specified should work perfectly too.
