PHNL/KSFO

Post by alan CXA651 »

Hi.
Today i thought i would try an overnight return trip from PHNL to KSFO .
Takeof was no problem , weather reasonable , smoothe for most of cruise with a slight chop of turbulance a couple of times , the weather ATIS at KSFO on the other hand was a nightmare , there is 4 runways for landing on , 19l/r and 28l/r the ATIS was giveing 348/22g27 vis 10nm no clouds temp 13 dewpoint 1 alt 3023, nearest runway to this awful wind was 28 , so elected 28R as it is the longest , approach ment i had to stay at 5000ft till clear of a mountain ridge , then a steady decent and turn on to the ils of 28r , the wind was so strong at a 68 degrees to the runway , blowing r/l was stopping me from following the beam , as it kept blowing me of the lineup , i was fighting and crabbing the aircraft all the way down , the gusts where so bad i could not even kick it fully off landing was not one of my best , but we got down in one piece .
Video of approach and landing in extream wind conditions.

Alan, you are doing an awesome job putting in so many hours in the Strat.
Have you ever considered recording all the gauges and fluid levels on a regular basis?
Early this year when I did a tour in the guppy from Brisbane out to Tahiti, up to the Marshall Islands and back to Brisbane in 3-6 hour flights, I created a spreadsheet to record everything.
If you are interest I can send it to you. It would be interesting to see more detail about your flights since you are putting so many hours in.
I feel all us Strat lovers are so jealous of the time you have to spend flying her.
I made the spreadsheet because I was interested in the changes of each engine over time.
Cheers
Trev

Hi Trev.
No i have not recorded the instruments , or made a spread sheet , also retired so time is mine, i am getting a bit concerned though on engine states , i had 3 engines good one excellent , then when i took off from YSSY heading for NFFN , the aircraft suffered a heating failure as i was passing FL130 for FL270 , once saftly down back at YSSY , i hit cold/dark , to get the flight restarted ,heating failure failed to get repaired , so hit damage on/off twice , to put it back in same state , aircraft still failed to repair heating , so ended flight and started again , then i noticed all engines now show excellent , and i have done over 3 big trips , and engine hrs are going up , but they seem stuck on excellent , even though i treat them gently , i would have expected them to show good not excellent .
On shift + 3 do you have damage on or damage off showing , as i think i might have the wrong selection to record engine damage.

Damage on should be showing.
To completely reset your aircraft back to 'as installed' condition, you need to rename the B377.dat file file in the following locations.
C:\Users\FSX\Documents\A2A\FSX\377

Hi Trev.
I dont wish to do that unless absolutly necessary , as it may also reset career , at this time my career is going well , damage on is showing in shift + 3 window , so i will keep an eye on it , to see if they start to deteriorate over next few flights , thanks for info , if all else fails then it might come to that master reset state.
