YSSY/NFFN

Post by alan CXA651 »

Hi.
Today i thought i would do the return flt to PHNL from YSSY via NFFN was going to do this over two days , WELL the B377 had other plans , it obviously likes YSSY , because 90NM out from YSSY , at 1300ft climbing to fl270 , the aircraft suffered a heating failure , which ment i had to decend to a warmer alt , so pax would not freeze , and return to YSSY , dumped a load of fuel , to get to the landing weight , landing not my best , but safe , and the wind was constantly changeing , ended up changing direction and runway choice 3 times during my return , T/O was from runway o7 , but due to swinging winds , ended up landing on 34L.

Hi.
Tried to start this flight again , after my return to YSSY due cabin heating failure , i tried to start the flight by just hitting cold dark , to get the aircraft set for a retry , but could not get things set up correctly , in my trys at getting it reset , i tried damage off then on , hopeing to get the heating repaired , this did not happen , so ended flight then reset the flight up , this is when i noticed the engines had retained the hours , but had gone from a good condition to an excellent condition , most wierd .
Anyhow second attempt went without a hitch from YSSY to NFFN tailwind with slight xwind enroute , and at destination there was a xwind , slightly in favour of the shortest runway sea approach , hdg for a mountain if you had a goaround , so seeing as it was only a 3knt xwind , i elected the longest runway with a bigger xwind element , but did have an ils to follow , so not that bad , landing was a good one , applause from cabin and a compliment from copilot , even heidi enjoyed the flight .
