I've done a lot of searching, I'm about 50% pleased with this product, I'm amazed at how much information is very dispersed even though the attempts to centralize it and the extremely long configs thread. I wished that A2A had stated up front in their product description that there was no automated way to install these (oh wait? That's a bad idea because you wouldn't sell any??? Gosh you're darn right I won't buy anything else now  ).

I like the content and what it has to offer, I am just not pleased about how I have to go about this; while there are plenty of pre-made and community provided configs why not make a tool to have these included so that when I have a certain plane; the tool will update the config for that type of plane.

One suggestion that might greatly help improve the 3D lights products is a dedicated search for configs, the forum search picks up quite a bit (or nothing) even if I filter it only to the 3D lights forums. Maybe you don't like freeware, I understand that; then I will take my business elsewhere.

I am not new to flightsimming, I can edit configs; but why should I when there's simple solutions to this? (and less chance of user errors such as forgetting one letter or line of config). I understand an automated process could create problems and I know this has been mentioned a number of times over the years but you already have the resources to make this possible its no different than the default planes and many other products that already offer such a tool to add to the config. Adding a WYSIWYG "points" for lights would be nice but not necessary for pre-made configs.

If you look at any of our Accu-Sim products / installers, you will notice that we are big believers in keeping things as simple as possible. Our product installers are >99% reliable. This is what we work to achieve and maintain constantly.

But there are just so many 3rd party aircraft out there, and they don't follow any naming convention. An installer would have to make all kinds of interpretations of the aircraft.cfg files, and would put at high risk, us messing up another developer's product.

Our latest product, Accu-Feel, accomplishes everything without changing a single file in the FSX directory. If we were able to install lights without manipulating the aircraft.cfg, would certainly would, but the system just does not allow that. If we had access to the FSX source, we would certainly make it a one click operation.

Scott.

I'm only talking about configs that already exist that would match some of the 3rd party a/c and the user would have to select them from a list to tell the installer which one it is that matches. And currently, the search is difficult; it does not search very easily which config I would want (within the forum) Google searches better but I still have to wade through all the configs; over my dead body (yes I'll be dead before I get done!)

I'm appalled that you would actually compare Accu-Sim feel or whatever it is, this has nothing to do with this product this is like comparing apples vs bananas.

MANY people, including reviews state the same thing I am stating here in this thread.

But this hasn't been updated in a little over 3 years (not that it needs any updating)

moving on, uninstalling.
