Shockwave Lights

Does anyone still check the 3d lights redux forum? I need some help with some lights and that place seems dead, lost, and forgotten.

Re: Shockwave Lights

Post by SpeedbirdBOAC »

If anyone is willing to help, here's an overview of my issues:

Problem One:

I have installed the v1.2a installer found on the forum. However, the lights had blocky textures before, and they still have blocky textures afterward. I see no change and the update was supposed to fix this, yes?

Problem Two:

I am trying to install the lights on the Wilco/FeelThere ERJs v2 (ERJ-145 specifically). The lights seem to be appearing mostly right (none of the configs I've seen on here and elsewhere appear to match up correctly, so I'm making my own) but everything is working except the taxi light. It will not switch off when I raise the gear, even though I've tried and tried to ensure that I have the proper entries for turning the lights off when the gear comes up. Here are my relevant .cfg edits

aircraft.cfg
[LIGHTS]
light.0 = 3, -12.8, -31.74, 2.52, fx_shockwave_navred ,
light.1 = 3, -12.8, 31.74, 2.52, fx_shockwave_navgre ,
light.2 = 2, -13.1, -31.95, 2.53, fx_shockwave_strobe_l ,
light.3 = 2, -13.1, 31.95, 2.53, fx_shockwave_strobe_l ,
light.4 = 1, -6.04, -0.05, -1.40, Fx_shockwave_beacon ,
light.5 = 1, 1.21, -0.05, 8.76, Fx_shockwave_beacon ,
light.6 = 10, 32.50, 0, 7.25, fx_vclight ,
light.7 = 5, 2, 4.7, 0.490, fx_Shockwave_landing_light //shockwave light
light.8 = 5, 2, -4.7, 0.490, fx_Shockwave_landing_light //shockwave light
light.9 = 6, 38.5, -0.1, -1.0, fx_shockwave_landing_light_small_xenon //shockwave light

panel.cfg
[VCockpit01]
size_mm=1024,1024
pixel_size=1024,1024
texture=$panel1
background_color=0,0,0
visible=0
gauge00=ERJ_mainx!PFD1VC, 2, 3, 297, 390
gauge01=ERJ_mainx!RMU1VC, 5, 793, 178, 226
gauge02=ERJ_mainx!PFD2VC, 304, 6, 296, 390
gauge03=ERJ_mainx!MFD1VC, 3, 397, 298, 390
gauge04=ERJ_mainx!MFD2VC, 306, 398, 296, 388
gauge05=ERJ_mainx!EICASVC, 608, 401, 297, 384
gauge06=ERJ_mainx!Caution, 968, 423, 45, 39
gauge07=ERJ_mainx!Warning, 918, 423, 45, 39
gauge08=ERJ_mainx!AP, 188, 802, 615, 108
gauge09=ERJ_mainx!Clock1,848, 788, 143, 148
gauge10=ERJ_mainx!Wiskey, 856, 946, 133, 72
gauge11=ERJ_mainx!WXR, 613,12, 310, 98
gauge12=ERJ_mainx!Audio,612, 237, 318, 156
gauge13=ERJ_mainx!MCP1,188, 918, 326, 105
gauge14=ERJ_mainx!MCP2,518, 916, 326, 105
gauge15=shockwave_lights!SW Lights_taxi_gear, 1,1,1,1 //shockwave light

So what's going on, fellows?

Also, it sounds like from the pre-installation documentation that new types of lights were going to be added, but there doesn't seem to be any new documentation that says what those new lights are, other than the 22/45 degree light for the default Bell helicopter.

Speedbird,

I don't know how you could be having blocky textures after applying the 1.2a update, as this update re-installed all textures. Did you try re-installing the main installation again, then applying the 1.2a update?

If you haven't, do a quick read here:
http://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtop ... 32&t=11776

You have selected your taxi lights in your panel.cfg to go off with the gear, which means #6 in the aircraft.cfg. Looking at your aircraft.cfg, this is the only light that will go off when the gear is raised:
light.9 = 6, 38.5, -0.1, -1.0, fx_shockwave_landing_light_small_xenon //shockwave light

Is this what you are seeing?

Re: lights stay on retracting gear on feelthere ERJ 145XR

Hello,

I did a search on my issue and found this thread, but it seems to stop unresolved. I have the same issue on the feelthere ERJ v2 145XR. Both the nose landing and taxi light stay on when the gear is raised, Here are my cfg files:

aircraft:
[LIGHTS]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing, 6=taxi, 7=recognition, 8=wing, 9=logo

gauge15=shockwave_lights!SW Lights, 1,1,1,1 //shockwave light
gauge16=shockwave_lights!SW Lights_taxi_gear, 1,1,1,1 //shockwave light

I also added: gauge17=shockwave_lights!SW Lights_gear, 1,1,1,1 //shockwave light

which was advised in the tutorial to turn of landing lights after retraction. This resulted in all three landing lights flickering on/off. Any suggestions? My system: Core i7 960 @4GHz, ATI Radeon 5870, Win 7 64bit, FSX-Acceleration

Hi Don,

Seems to be the same problem I just posted for PMDG's 747 (and maybe for my Eaglesoft Citation X). You might go the way I used with success for most birds and which is described here: http://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtop ... 8a1bee97f4. However, you should know about dealing with cab files (unpacking and compiling them again). As long as the Shockwave guys wouldn't allow me to publish my extended gauge package I tend to leave it where it is. A second reason is that I disabled their automatic daylight check in order to switch off the lights automatically in FSX and I'm not sure whether everybody agrees even if all pilots I read about would like to have as many lights on ground as possible due to a better visibility. If you want to follow this path you can find some hints in the WWW how to do it. Unfortunately the proposed code is definitely wrong as you will not find the used command (>K:TAXI_LIGHTS_OFF) in the SDK (btw. "&gt" stands for ">"). Ah, before doing anything: BACK UP YOUR FILES you want to tinker with.

First you could try to change your light.10, light.11 and light.12 into type 6 (landing) as the original Shockwave gauge addresses landing lights only. The gauge that you added as "gauge16=shockwave_lights!SW Lights_taxi_gear, 1,1,1,1 //shockwave light" does not exist in the original set-up. It will have no effect, thus. The next one you mentioned should do the trick - for landing lights of type 6 in your aircraft.cfg as written above.

EDIT: Meanwhile I have learned that the gauge does exist - in an update which is years older than my recent download when I bought Shockwave lights, sorry for a wrong advice. The problem is that it does not help at all in all cases.

Cheers,
Axel
