Need Files To Correct Square Lights

Post by LTCSZ »

Hi: I have installed the program 3 times, but I still do not have the 3 files in the Effects/Texture folder stated in another post that I need to correct the square lights situation...Can you tell me how to get them or where to find them? Thanks,

Steve

Look in your EFFECTS / TEXTURE folder for these files:
fx_shockwave_circle
fx_shockwave_light
fx_swave_lights_1

Do you have any duplicate files? If so, delete them all, then re-install and apply the update. Somehow some installations have duplicate files - I am not sure how this has happend, but if we can find out, we can build something to automatically check and handle this for any future posts on this.

Thanks for the reply...No matter what I do, I still do not have the fx_shockwave_circle file in my Effects/texture folder! (The other two are there) Arghhh...I followed your instructions to the letter, but no joy...Any other ideas? Thanks a lot...

Interesting - that would explain the squares. Where and when did you get the installer? PM me your email and I will send you one from our store.

That explains my issue also.

I do not have the circle file in the texture folder either.

When and where did you get this installers? I would like to know if we have a bad installer floating around out there. Also, I need to know if you are speaking of FS9 or FSX.

IIRC my installers came directly from WOP/Shockwave and would have been close to the original release. Let me see I can find the original installers. I have suffered from several HD failures.
FSX

Do you have a file name of the installer I should be looking for?

Found this: swlights_redux.exe dated 12/7/2007

I also located my order number. Transaction date was also 12/7/2007.

Steve,

Sorry, I missed your mentioning FSX in this thread, and was awaiting a PM response. I just shot you an email with the new installer.

Just by accident I found one reason the lights sometimes become square. I checked the box "Preview DirectX 10" on my settings and when I flew at night it did strange things to my lights. Sometimes the lights would be square, the landing lights would not come on with the gear down until about 500 feet from the runway, and I had some weird reflections. I unchecked the box and things returned to normal.

If you have the acceleration program installed you do not need DirectX 10.
