Hi team,
Before modifying MyTraffic aircraft I read that the FSX default aircraft have lights that are being calculated to see from 12 miles and closer.
These lights are built in de modell
The lights added to the aircraft.cfg file are calculated till 125 miles away.
So if an aircraft in Brussels has his lights on it might infuence performance at Amsterdam.
Is the performance hit just very small ( -0,2 fps ) or bigger ( + 2 fps ) ?
I am sure others have tested with this.
Does the 3d lights cost much performance ?
Does the 3d lights cost much performance ?

Depends a lot on your computer.
Personally, i have not noticed any performance hit period.
But then again i have a C2D 3ghz overclocked processor 2x2gb 1066mhz RAM and a GTX 280 1024mb graphics card.

I did not recognize any remarkable loss of performance using the 3D light effects - on a notebook!
My notebook:
Fujitsu-SIEMENS AMILO Xi 2428
- Intel Centrino Duo (T7250, 2 x 2GHz)
- NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS (256MB)
- 4GB RAM (3065MB usable due to 32Bit OS Vista Ultimate SP1)
MS FSX SP2
PMDG 747-400
Flight One Ultimate Traffic
several VFR sceneries (Germany north, west, south, Helgoland, EDDF, EDDH, LEMD, LFPG)
3D Lights Redux works great, is easy to handle for 3rd party aircraft, very realistic light effects (especially at night) and requires only a very little bit extra performance which is not recognizable hampering the use of FSX - even on less powerful PCs.
Best regards,
