Hi,
I would to ask if there is any way how to synchronize strobes in FS9. I'm using three strobes fx_shockwave_strobe_l on my PIC 737, but they flash in sequence right wing, tail, left wing. Any chance to force them to flash at same time?
Thanks.
Michal.

Re: Strobes synchronizing
You can't synch two separate effects files. The only way would be to make a single effect for that specific aircraft with both strobe lights. You would have to use the offsets within the effects file, which is a bit tedious to do but not too difficult - just a lot of trial and error.

Re: Strobes synchronizing
But I'm using only one type of strobe lights, so effect file is the same. Here's my config:
[LIGHTS]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing
light.0 =3, -15.80, -47.70, 4.14, fx_shockwave_navred ,
light.1 =3, -15.80, 47.40, 4.14, fx_shockwave_navgre ,
light.2 =3, -56.50, -0.16, 8.98, fx_shockwave_navwhi ,
light.3 =2, -16.54, -47.57, 4.14, fx_shockwave_strobe_l ,
light.4 =2, -16.54, 47.50, 4.14, fx_shockwave_strobe_l ,
light.5 =1, 8.90, -0.15, 10.50, fx_shockwave_beaconh ,
light.6 =3, -20.85, -47.23, 4.18, fx_shockwave_navwhi ,
light.7 =3, -20.85, 47.01, 4.18, fx_shockwave_navwhi ,
light.8 =1, 10.90, -0.15, -2.90, fx_shockwave_beacon ,
light.9 = 5, 8.5, 7.28, 0.50, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_narrow,
light.10 = 5, 8.5, -7.28, 0.50, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_narrow,
light.11 = 6, 30.85, 0.0, -3.50, fx_Shockwave_landing_light,
light.12 = 5, -13.5, 29.50, 1.15, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow,
light.13 = 5, -13.5, -29.50, 1.15, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow,
light.14 =2, -56.50, -0.16, 8.98, fx_shockwave_strobe_l,
Nr. 3,4 and 14 using same effect so timing should be same. Or not?

Re: Strobes synchronizing
I think what Scott means is that if you want synchronised strobes, then lights 3, and 4 would need to sit in the same fx file.
At the moment you have 2 separate instances of the same light in the aircraft:
light.3 =2, -16.54, -47.57, 4.14, fx_shockwave_strobe_l ,
light.4 =2, -16.54, 47.50, 4.14, fx_shockwave_strobe_l ,
To get synched strobes, then you'd need to replace these entries with something like:
light.3 =2, -16.54, 0.00, 4.14, fx_viper26_double_strobe_l ,
The file fx_viper26_double_strobe_l.fx would effectively contain the 2 lights - one at the end of each wing, and the distance between them would be the combined length of both wings (95.07 from your example). The centre of the "fx" would sit in the middle of the aircraft, and the lights would display at each wingtip.
I've never tinkerered with fx files, so I wouldn't know how easy it is to achieve this, nor indeed if my example is accurate, but I think this is what is required for the synched effect.

Re: Strobes synchronizing
Ok, I understood it now. But solution is a little bit complicated for me.
Thank you for help.

Re: Strobes synchronizing
Not to sure if it'll help you but there is a freeware file called " asynchronous strobe effect" floating on the web. Google it as a .zip to find a link. I use it and Redux in FS9 and they are a sight to watch. They operate with total randomness or so it will seem. Since they are only the strobe effects (not the strobe itself) you can use whatever "light" you choose.
Cheers and goodluck.
