3D Lights Redux Update
For FS2004 and FSX versions
Version 1.2a

NOTE:
All first time installations should apply this update regardless of the date of the download purchase.
This updates all versions 1.0 and 1.1 to version 1.2a.

Overview
This update contains improved light flare textures on planes and airports, more lights for 3rd party modification, and other various fixes.

Included in v.1.2a
- Fixes square lights issue on some installations
- Improved light flare textures
- Support added to independently manage landing lights or taxi lights mounted on retractable gear to go off when gear is raised.

There have been requests for new effects on 3rd party aircraft. Support for the following effects were added:
- Two new downward facing lights (22 and 45 degree).
- Set of smaller strobe lights.
- Three sets of recognition lights (red, green, and yellow) for use on older warbirds. These lights are designed to be placed together and change over time to simulate the pilot altering their settings.
- Yellow navigation light.
- Fast flashing red beacon.
- Low light beacons (lowl) for those who want less light in the cockpit
- More traditional, older lights available

3D Lights Redux Update

Hello,

please tell me:
how can i manage landing lights mounted on retractable gear to go off when gear is raised?

I installed update v1.1. and started with the default 737 and
all landing lights stayed on after retracting the gear.

by the way: very good work to have downward facing lights at the bell...

thanks

Timo

OK, I assume you are looking at the default 737 in FS9 - I found something that may have caused those files to not install. Re-download and run the update.

NOTE for FSX users:
Microsoft default aircraft for FS9 use the taxi lights, but in FSX for unknown reasons, Microsoft opted to make them all work as landing lights. So, the default configuration is to have all lights go off when any landing lights are placed on retractable gear and the gear is raised. The system now supports independent control. We did not do the replacement of all default FSX aircraft in v1.1 of the update but will do shortly in the next update.

Scott, douse the update backup our existing cfg's ?

I just installed it and need to re-add my repaints and other tweaks.

I have 2 folders in "Program Files", "Shockwave 3D Lights Redux" and "Shockwave Lights" and 1 in "Microsoft Flight Simulator X", "ShockwaveLights" that has "BACKUP" and Redux_Backup" in it but all the files in them appear to be default cfg's

Edit: it looks like the only ones directly changed by the update were the Heli's but I have about 20 repaints on the 206 and a couple on the R22.
Oh well, guess I'll get it sorted but a little warning to others backup the Helicopter cfg's before updating if you have any repaints for them.

To be sure the update wan't cached, download and run again. When you run it, towards the end of the install it will say:

"You have apparently already run this utility and received the updated files included.

Do you want the installer to skip installing the updated files or do you wish to re-install these files again?"

Select B - yes.

The original installer backs up your all of your aircraft.cfg files, the update replaces some default aircraft.cfg's for fs9, but does not back those up since there is a backup from the original install.

Hello Scott,

Thanks,

Timo

Timo,

Check to see if your panel cfg. property is read only. It won't be replaced by the installer if it is. That sounds like what might be happening.

my FSX 737-800 panel.cfg is not protected.
i´m sorry for the space i waste, but could anybody check my panel.cfg for
the right entries or changes by the update ???

Thank you very much!!!!

[VCockpit01]

I truncated your panel.cfg post as the only section of importance is the [VCockpit01]

This is odd because i don't know why you have this entry:
gauge29=shockwave_lights!SW Lights, 1,1,1,1 //shockwave light

3D Lights Redux adds this entry:
gauge29=shockwave_lights!SW Lights_gear, 1,1,1,1 //shockwave light

and the updater doesn't change the file. Did you manually edit this?

Yes, Scott, i made the change from "lights_gear" to "lights", because
i wanted to switch landing-lights on below 10000 ft without gear down.

But - for example - i didn´t edit the panel.cfg of the 747-400:
( gauge21=shockwave_lights!SW Lights_gear, 1,1,1,1 //shockwave light )
and it´s the same problem...all landing lights go off when i retract the gear.

By the way: this is my aircraft.cfg lights section (737) after using the updater:

[LIGHTS]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing
light.0 = 3, -25.00, -58.20, 3.90, fx_shockwave_navred ,
light.1 = 3, -25.00, 58.20, 3.90, fx_shockwave_navgre ,
light.2 = 2, -71.52, 0.00, 5.92, fx_shockwave_strobe_l_nl ,
light.3 = 2, -25.20, -58.20, 4.20, fx_shockwave_strobe_l_2 ,
light.4 = 2, -25.20, 58.20, 4.20, fx_shockwave_strobe_l_3 ,
light.5 = 2, -7.55, 0.00, -5.50, fx_shockwave_beaconb ,
light.6 = 1, 2.00, 0.00, 8.70, fx_shockwave_beaconh ,
light.7 = 4, 47.60, 0.00, 3.00, fx_shockwave_vclight_l ,
light.8 = 3, -29.50, -56.60, 3.70, fx_shockwave_navwhi_l_nl ,
light.9 = 3, -29.50, 56.60, 3.70, fx_shockwave_navwhi_l_nl ,
light.10 = 5, 5.6, 7.28, -1.47, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_narrow // Shockwave light
light.11 = 5, 5.6, -7.28, -1.47, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_narrow // Shockwave light
light.12 = 5, 41.85, 0.0, -6.8, fx_Shockwave_landing_light // Shockwave light
light.13 = 5, 36, 0, -18, fx_shockwave_landing_light_light,

is everything o.k. with it?

what changes are made by the updater regarding the nose gear - and can i check this manually or configure it manually???

Thanks,

Timo
