McDonnell Douglas / Boeing MD-11 by Premier Aircraft Design (FSX)

I only worked out and tested the KLM PAX version but freight versions (UPS/FedEX) should work as well.

Just exchange the [LIGHTS] section of the "aircraft.cfg" file:

[LIGHTS]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing

Douglas DC-8-71F by Historic Jetliners Group (FSX)

The "aircraft.cfg" file of this beautiful DC-8 does not contain any [LIGHTS] section as all lights are implemented to the aircraft design code itself. So just add the following code section completely, which I carefully worked out and tested on FSX:

[LIGHTS]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing
light.0 = 2, -26.95, -70.00, 4.00, fx_shockwave_strobe_l_2 // Shockwave light
light.1 = 2, -26.95, 70.00, 4.00, fx_shockwave_strobe_l_3 // Shockwave light
light.2 = 3, -27.65, -70.65, 4.10, fx_shockwave_navred // Shockwave light
light.3 = 3, -27.65, 70.65, 4.10, fx_shockwave_navgre // Shockwave light
light.4 = 5, 13.51, -6.25, -1.35, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_small_old // Shockwave light
light.5 = 5, 13.51, -6.25, -1.35, fx_shockwave_landing_light_light // Shockwave light
light.6 = 5, 13.51, 6.25, -1.35, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_small_old // Shockwave light
light.7 = 5, 13.51, 6.25, -1.35, fx_shockwave_landing_light_light // Shockwave light
light.8 = 6, 68.70, -0.80, -6.40, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_small_old // Shockwave light
light.9 = 6, 68.70, -0.80, -6.40, fx_shockwave_landing_light_light // Shockwave light
light.10 = 6, 68.70, 0.80, -6.40, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_small_old // Shockwave light
light.11 = 6, 68.70, 0.80, -6.40, fx_shockwave_landing_light_light // Shockwave light
light.12 = 5, -16.60, -35.00, -1.10, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_tail_old // Shockwave light
light.13 = 5, -16.60, -35.00, -1.10, fx_shockwave_landing_light_light // Shockwave light
light.14 = 5, -16.60, 35.00, -1.10, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_tail_old // Shockwave light
light.15 = 5, -16.60, 35.00, -1.10, fx_shockwave_landing_light_light // Shockwave light

AlphaSim's HU-16B (FSX Only)

Below are the syntax lines to add landing lights and tail white nav plus optionally the yellow recognition light (last line) to the just released AlphaSim HU-16B Albatross.

KNOWN ISSUES: The Readme File for this model states the Albatross did not have landing lights, but included a landing light switch in the VC. This may have come from true information that landing lights are not to be used in any night water landings due to the glare reflection from the water. All models of the HU-16 left the Grumman plant with landing lights installed. They are the retractable type and this action must be built into the model. Thus viewing the added lights from behind the aircraft will show the light rather than the metal light assemble shielding the light.

Second, the tail nav light must also be built into the model to make the light track rudder movements and this was not done. Thus the light additions will not track the rudder movements.

NOTE: Adding the yellow recognition light (last line) should have additional lines added for making the red and green nav lights also recognition (with "flash" included) to match and be accurate. The HU-16 also had two anchor lights on the fuselage just aft of the trailing edge of the flaps (taken from the flight manual). The exact location is not provided, but will be further researched.

The overall model is an outstanding replica of the HU-16. Thanks to Tako_Kichi for assistance provided to allow me to represent the limitations of this project accurately.

Backup the original CFG and replace the [Lights] section with this:

[Lights]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit
light.0 = 3, 0.94, -50.81, 4.20, fx_navred ,
light.1 = 3, 0.94, 50.81, 4.20, fx_navgre ,
light.2 = 1, -26.81, 0.01, 5.92, fx_beacon ,
light.3 = 10, 12.50, 0.00, -0.84, fx_vclight,
light.4 = 5, -0.94, -42.0, 2.46, fx_Shockwave_landing_light // Shockwave light
light.5 = 5, -0.94, 42.0, 2.46, fx_Shockwave_landing_light // Shockwave light
light.6 = 3, -41.2, 0.0, 3.52, fx_Shockwave_navwhi // Shockwave light
light.7 = 3, -41.2, 0.0, 3.17, fx_Shockwave_recog_flash_y // Shockwave light

Boeing 737-800 by Project Open Sky (FSX)
(Pre-NG Version without winglets)

I precisely worked out and tested the following setup using FSX which however may also work on FS 2004 (not tested).

Just replace the existing [LIGHTS] section:

[LIGHTS]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing, 6=taxi, 7=recognition, 8=wing, 9=logo

light.0 = 1, 1.600, 0.000, -4.500, fx_shockwave_beaconb,
light.1 = 1, 9.300, 0.000, 9.300, fx_shockwave_beaconh,
light.2 = 4, 57.000, 0.000, 3.500, fx_shockwave_vclight_l,
light.3 = 3, 30.000, 0.000, -3.000, fx_shockwave_vclight_l , // front cargo
light.4 = 3, 40.000, 0.000, 4.000, fx_shockwave_vclight_l , // pax door
light.5 = 5, 14.080, -7.860, -1.200, fx_shockwave_landing_light_small_old, // landing light - wing
light.6 = 5, 14.080, -7.860, -1.200, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_light, // landing light - wing
light.7 = 5, 14.080, 7.860, -1.200, fx_shockwave_landing_light_small_old, // landing light - wing
light.8 = 5, 14.080, 7.860, -1.200, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_light, // landing light - wing
light.9 = 5, 14.100, -8.300, -1.000, fx_shockwave_landing_light_small_old, // landing light - wing
light.10= 5, 14.100, 8.300, -1.000, fx_shockwave_landing_light_small_old, // landing light - wing
light.12= 6, 50.000, 0.000, -6.300, fx_shockwave_landing_light_small_old, // taxi light - nose gear
light.13= 6, 50.000, 0.000, -6.300, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_light, // taxi light - nose gear
light.14= 3, -62.000, 0.000, 7.000, fx_shockwave_navwhi_l, // Tail Nav Light
light.15= 2, -62.000, 0.000, 7.000, fx_shockwave_strobe_l, // Tail Strobe Light

Known limitations:
Due to limitation of the possible amount of light settings within the [LIGHTS] section I was unable to set the retractable lights mounted at the aircraft's belly, the two wing inspection lights at each side of the body, the rear cargo bay when hatch opened and the navigation lights at the wing tips (the nav lights implemented to the aircraft structure code look good although). However: The light setup looks great to me.

Have fun!

Designed for FSX but might well also work for FS9. I have not done Taxi or Nosewheel Landing Lights as I still can't get them to work properly so I have left the defaults.

AlphaSim's New T-28 Trojan Set (FSX Only)

This is for the landing lights only, as all the other lights are already setup. Note the rear cockpit light is commented out with the "\\" lines at the start of line 6. If you want this light on, remove the "\\" only and it will come on anytime the front cockpit light is on.

Backup your aircraft CFG file and replace the [lights] section with the following:

[lights]

//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing

light.0 = 1, -11.60, 0, 2.34, fx_beacon
light.1 = 2, 0.18, 19.70, 0.75, fx_strobeh
light.2 = 2, 0.18, -19.70, 0.75, fx_strobeh
light.3 = 3, 0.66, 19.60, 0.78, fx_navgre
light.4 = 3, 0.66, -19.60, 0.78, fx_navred
light.5 = 4, 1.68, 0, 2.98, fx_vclight
\\light.6 = 4, -2.84, 0, 2.66, fx_vclight ; rear cockpit light
light.7 = 5, 1.47, -14.60, -0.55, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_small //Shockwave light
light.8 = 5, 1.47, 14.60, -0.55, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_small //Shockwave light

Majestic Software Dash 8-Q300

I couldn't find anyone elses on this aircraft, so here's mine. Hope they are of some use.

This includes the entire light section, as I've made a few changes to the other MJC lights as well. If you don't like these changes, only copy over the shockwave lights entries. Thanks to ManualL on the Majestic forum for providing the base Shockwave lights coordinates.

Remove the // next to light.8 if your Dash 8 has the white nav light on top of the tail (my airline doesn't), and if you don't like the new VC light, remove the light.15 line and remove the // before the //light.15 line.

CalClassic Convair CV-240 FS9 and FSX

In this Propliner Classic by Tom Gibson, Greg Pepper, Alan Jennings, Ken Mitchell and Steve Mathis, here are the additions to make to the Aircraft.cfg and the panel.cfg file. This panel.cfg is NOT the file in the CV-240 CA-18 (16)/panel folder. It will be in the 240pnlKMCC folder either under the Aircraft folder in FS9 or under /Simobjects/Airplanes folder in FSX. Backup any files you intend to make changes to first. The same lines below can be used in both FSX and FS9 as they are.

In the CV-240 Aircraft.cfg, add at the bottom of the [lights] section:

light.6=5, -.5, -28.5, -1.0, fx_shockwave_landing_light // Shockwave light ,
light.7=5, -.5, 28.5, -1.0, fx_shockwave_landing_light // Shockwave light ,
light.8=6, 21.0, 0.00, -6.0, fx_shockwave_landing_light_small // shockwave light

In the panel.cfg, add at the bottom of the [Vcockpit01] section:

gauge33=shockwave_lights!SW Lights, 1,1,1,1 //shockwave light
gauge34=shockwave_lights!SW Lights_gear, 1,1,1,1 //shockwave light

Have a look at the results here: http://i26.tinypic.com/2ry3383.jpg
