Wide screen installation??

Post by jb44mag »

OK, testing my 74 year old memory. I seem to recall when installing B-17 Acusim I was asked if wide screen or normal? Not sure I selected wide. Now when flying, there seems to be an additional minimal zoom (was 40% now 30%). This got applied to all aircraft. It's ok, but there is external distortion at 40% and 30%, and I have to fly at 50% or more to get rid of the distortion. Again, this is a memory test.

How can I get back to a normal screen, where the lowest zoom is 40?

27" monitor; 2560 x 1440 x 32.

If this wasn't related to the Acusim installation, then ..... sorry.

Regards,

-Jim

Hi.
I set my FSX screen size to match my monitors size , found in settings , hit customize button , and look for a setting below frame rate slider , to match your montor settings, hit ok

Thanks Alan.

Both the monitor resolution and FSX resolution are set for the same (as they have always been); 2560x1440x32. What changed with B-17 upgrade to Accu-sim, the zoom now has a .30 setting, verses a .40 prior to upgrade. I get distortion of outside planes( depending on plane selected) at .30 and .40, and need to fly at .60 to get the same presentation as at .40 before upgrade. It's almost as if I need to reinstall the ascu-sim upgrade again. Problem with that? My external HD with all my add-on account information, crashed a few months ago, so any add ons prior to that, information, passwords, etc. have been lost.

I may have the information in my email archive, and will try to download again, but......the accusim was downloaded well more than a year ago, and is not still available.

Thoughts? will re-installing B-17 accu-sim revert to the zoom pre ascu-sim?

Locate your fsx.cfg or fsx-se.cfg (whichever applies) in <C:\Users\~username~\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX > or ~~\FSX-SE and open it with Notepad. Make sure FSX is NOT running. Find the section [Display] and then look for the line WideViewAspect=False. Change it to True, save and close. This will give you widescreen with the appropriate zoom.

Thanks Roger.

It was already set to True. However, I deleted True, and set it to True again, and saved. No change. I have a screen shot to attach, but cannot figure out how to do it. It is A2A Cessna 172.

Hmmm, try setting it to False, save and close, launch game and test, close sim, set back to True, save and close. And then, maybe false is what you're looking?

Thanks,

I've set Wide Screen Aspect to False, saved and started FSX. Still have .30 zoom, but there doesn't appear to be distortions and Zoom now appears to be normal for .30. Quit FSX and restarted Windows. Stated FSX again, and still appears proper.

Thanks,

Best regards,

-Jim
