While recuperating, I watched the series, Twelve O'clock High and I decided that I wanted to do some planes for the 918th BG.
So I decided that, in my world, the 918 was part of the 1st Air Div, 1st Combat Bomb. Wing. Tail letter 'R'
Squadrons:
101 (Code, GP. White nose band and prop hubs)
102 (Code, JJ. Yellow nose band and prop hubs)
103 (Code, HL, Blue nose band and prop hubs)
I like slightly heavy weathering on my warbirds.
This is Bum's Saloon of the 101st BS.
I added exterior handles to the hatches
and did interior texture for the forward crew hatch.
From the 102nd BS,
From the 103rd BS,
Hope you guys like them.
George

Re: Some fictional paints
Hi George.
They look nice , if your interested in doing real research and painting real USAAF B17`s , get in touch with the 91st bombardment group , we have a few already painted by previous painters , but theres a lot of missing sqd aircraft , they could do with your painting skills.
SQD`S in the 91st are the 322/323/324/401
regards alan.

Excellent work!
I especially like how you rain-scoured the wing leading edges to bare metal and applied the darker grayish tone to the engines.

Very nice and in keeping with the context of the time, the pin up cockpit art look slightly more 50's than 40's but otherwise wouldn't know they where fictional at a glance

Hey Lewis, what can I say. The artists in those squadrons were 'ahead of their time!'Very nice and in keeping with the context of the time, the pin up cockpit art look slightly more 50's than 40's but otherwise wouldn't know they where fictional at a glance

Decided to change the nose art for Piccadilly Lilly IV
This seems to be more in the style of the era.
Comments??
Also, if anyone wants any of these planes let me know and I'll add a link to the zip files.
