B-17G 42-31369 of the 401st BG/614th BS IW-K "Round Tripper" was on a mission to Berlin on the 6th of august 1944, when it was hit by flak. The crew, led by Lt John Sauerwald, attempted to reach neutral ground in Sweden, but had to ditch in the Baltic Sea. All crew members managed to escape in dinghies, but where then captured by an U-boat, spending the rest of the war as POW's.

Very nice! Glad to see the old girl still getting attention. She's still my favorite even though I've left her parked at Tiksi, Russia for several months sense the Connie came out  It really is too cold there to fly anyways. I landed with carbs all froze up and no hope of thawing them. She might wait there until spring time and the weather warms up a bit.

Great job again, I like the non-paint era markings applied to the OD birds during the changes for the eighth as it matured and tactics changed.
