B-17 LVAR to change heading bug indicator?

Post by joepoway »

Scott

I am trying to program the Flux Gate gauge heading indicator on the B-17 panel with Spad.next and use my Saitek panel to set it.

I can obtain the direction setting to display using the Simconnect "Autopilot Heading Lock Dir" but I cannot determine which LVAR to use to actually change the dial setting using the heading dial on my Saitek panel.

The dial needle can be changed with the mouse so I assume there is a LVAR that I could increment so I could program it.

Thanks in advance

I believe you can just use the default FSX controls:

HEADING BUG DEC 65880
HEADING BUG INC 65879

Looking at my FSUIPC4.ini file I see that I assigned those functions to an
axis on my Gamepad (Device "E" ) using two 'ranges' or 'bands' in each
direction for the speed of the change.

+1000 to +10000 is 'slow' decrement
+10500 to +16383 is 'fast' decrement

The same values only negative operate the increment function.

28=EZ,UR,1000,10000,65880,0 -{ Entering=HEADING_BUG_DEC }-
29=EZ,DR,-10000,-1000,65879,0 -{ Entering=HEADING_BUG_INC }-
30=EZ,UR,10500,16383,1024,0 -{ Entering=heading bug dec fast }-
31=EZ,DR,-16384,-10500,1025,0 -{ Entering=heading bug inc fast }-

Page 31 of the "FSUIPC4 for Advanced Users" PDF file shows these controls:

Additional “FS” Controls added by FSUIPC4

1024 Heading Bug Dec Fast (–10)
1025 Heading Bug Inc Fast (+10)

One could use a pair of switches to execute the INC and DEC functions using
the 'repeat while held' feature. Adding a 'conditional assignment', say when the
switches are held with the joystick 'pinky switch' pulled, they would execute
the 'fast' INC/DEC functions.

Looking at my list of L:Vars for the B-17G I do not see any that appear to
operate those functions.

Thanks for the reply Paul.

I run P3Dv3 and use Spad.neXt to program all my Saitek panels, switches, and throttle controls.
I have FSUIPC installed but do not use it for anything anymore except occasionally I experiment with the new AI limiter function Pete has provided.
I also could not find anything in the LVAR list I downloaded using FSUIPC to create the log file.

I will try to see if I can leverage any of your suggestions using Spad.next but I'm not sure those commands are applicable.

Thanks
Joe
