It's been a long haul and I have finally logged 2000 airframe hours!
Only 68 more hours to go, and I will have logged 3000 hours in the B-17.

2000 Airframe Hours
Re: 2000 Airframe Hours
Wow, very impressive! That's a LOT of flying hours.
What parts need replacement most of the time? In my case it's usually the gear and flap motors due to high speed abuse. The engines seem to last long enough - knock on wood

Re: 2000 Airframe Hours
Very nice Bill! I'm currently at 1550 hours on my 91st Bomb Group B-17G airframe and the engines are not far behind. Goes to show what a little TLC can do, eh?

I have had quite a few gear issues, leaky fuel tanks, induction and turbo issues, oil leaks, hydraulic leaks, crankshaft failure, dead batteries and heater failures to mention a few things.

No, I have close to 1000 additional B-17 hours on top of the 2000 Airframe hours that were from other DAT files that became corrupted, and also in the early days learning to fly the B-17 after a crash or serious damage I would do a complete overhaul and start over.neucoas wrote:They are counting since day 1 release? :O

Your skill at managing the engines is very impressive! I am lucky to get 700 hours out of an engine.

Re: 2000 Airframe Hours
By the way, what "wear rate" are you all using? What is the difference? I assume 1000h is real time, and 300h is more accelerated for those who want thrills?
Re: 2000 Airframe Hours
I have mine set at 1000h. I fly way too much to have it set at 300h, where I would constantly be dealing with problems. In real time, things happen more randomly when you are not expecting something giving a better sense of realism.reflected wrote:By the way, what "wear rate" are you all using? What is the difference? You also get into a mindset like in real life where you don't want problems, but will deal with them when they happen.
