I'm now training ILS approaches. My airport is EPKK. ILS Freq. 110.30, rwy course 254.

Can anyone describe how to set the C1 autopilot to catch the path and glide slope. I'm putting the freq into NAV1 but when I'm passing the path nothing happens.

Second question - how can I change heading in FS autopilot option ? When I push hdg button I can see only "hdg" text on the autopilot's screen. But where can I adjust hdg ?

1. You cant use the C1 to catch the path or glide slope turn it off and you should find that it should work

2.To change the heading you use the knob next to the flux gate which is left of the PDI gauge

Ok, so how can I make full automatic ILS approach ? In B-17 without Accusim it was possible. Here it's different.

When I adjust the hdg, sometimes it happens that plane is banking but the plane is not turning, why ?

...and how should I use (understand) gyro compass (drift) ?

...regarding the ils (and FS autopilot) - when I am close to the airport, my current heading 200 (rwy is on my right), ils 110.30 set (in white square in radio panel), rwy crs is 254. When I am close to the path, I hit the app button and then the plane is starting strongly turning right (later he continues right circles). I thought, that he will catch the path and then starting to turn right to be exactly on he path.

if you are using the Auto pilot from FSX with the B-17 for the ILS to work you need to select the NAV button with the ILS Freq in the NAV1 position don't use the HDG button, the plane will come onto the runway heading by its self ( If you have every thing right :-) FREQ ) you have to control the Glide slope

edit
Ok I took the B-17 for a flight at the Airport the ILS doesn't kick in until between 10 and 7 nm out from the runway it works
Heading on Flux Gate

ILS has kicked it all I'm doing is the horizon

...but if he is going only to show the path on the ILS indicator or he will "catch" the path and turn towards the runway like for example in modern airliners ?

When I'm downwind, I have airport exactly on my left wing, when I press the NAV button, aircraft starts to turn left but only to new hdg (about 001, 002) and stop turning. He passes the path and nothing happens.

What is the aim of the button APP then if You say I should press only the NAV ?

...and one more thing: when I put the ILS freq in NAV1, radio compass doesn't react. When I mark the ADF (on radio panel) with correct freq of NDB, then it shows correct direction. I have for sure correct freq of the ILS and I put in correct way in radio panel.

In my case it looks like this. When I am at black cross positions, the aircraft starts to heading north. He is not continuing towards runway (follow green arrow).

You are to close to the Airport you are within 2nm of the Airport from you Pic, on the map there are a few other button one is Rings and the other 2 are in and out

Image

And the rings @ 2nm notest that the airport is within the 2nm radius and they go up in 2,5,10 and 20 nm rings

Zoom out

Actually, he's more than 2 miles out Ron. The pic shows him beyond the Outer Marker, which is about 2 miles out.

Beyond that, the issue is that you are attempting to capture the localizer improperly. You should never "attack" the localizer at anything more than a 45 degree angle if you wish for the AP to capture properly. So what you need to do is turn to a 45 degree or less intercept (30 degrees is a more normal attack angle) and then activate the NAV mode. The A2A B-17 does not support APP and G/S capture, even with the FSX autopilot.

As it is, this is an old aircraft, you have to fly it like an old aircraft. You are attempting to force modern equipment and procedures that are incorrect for the aircraft in any time, including today. If you want the autopilot to fly your approach for you, then you need to go fly modern metal, not these old planes.

In the basic version it works automatically so that's why I thought the same is with Accusim version.

I know I'm flying an old bird, that's why I'm loving it.
