The A2A Simulations Community

Hi,

I am a very very proud owner of the P-47 with AccuSim - too cool for words.

Anyway - It's gotten me into the WWII birds so I fancied trying the Spit - however there seem to be a few others out there, namely the realair version (and of course many others). I realise this is the A2A forum so everyone will say "get this one" (and trust me - I want to) but I would like to have at least a little advice on which is the best and why...

The two don't really compare, ours is the early Mark and Real Air's is the later mark (s). Both compliment each other quiet well. We would at some point in the future like ot accu-sim the spitfire, its simply a case of finding the time inbetween other projects.

As Lewis said, they are very different. Realair's one is more like a modern, restored Spitfire: paints are clean, shiny, you can choose a variant with modern avionics in the cockpit. The A2A's one is like a Spitfire from BoB era: almost matte, with nicely weathered cockpit and working gunsight. Both are native FSX models, fly and sound very well.

A matter of taste and amount of money you want to spend, as Realair's is almost twice as expensive. But you get more variants.

Cheers Guys - I appreciate the honest feedback. I'm not concerned with all the different variants and to be honest I'm big one for loyalty and I can't fault the P-47 AccuSim, so I'll put my hands in my pocket and go for it.

You could always get both. I did. They are both excellent but I do seem to fly the A2A Mk1 more because it just feels better. More raw, more basic, more… real?

I have both. I had started to base my new build Spitfire simulator on the RealAir Mk IX model but I am now probably changing WOP...because this one "feels" more like a Spitfire, being an early marque.



I can't wait for the accusim version...

I took the plunge - got the A2A version and I love it. As per other posts on here I can't wait for the AccuSim enhancement - but now I can go for a quick spin in the Spit or a more involved spin in the P47.

i'm Planning to make an A2A P-51 duet to film with next

very nice BUT i don't think it needs the loud music,look forward to the P51 one.

Nicely made and edited - but how do you mange to keep the Extra in the air when your left boot is firmly pinning the rudder bar against the firewall??????

If we disegard the fact that they are different marks, and they are both very accurate, these are the dfferences in my opinion:

Strenghts:

a2a: cockpit feels more realistic, better sound inside the cockpit
RealAir: very nice lighting and skin, better sound in external views.

There is a tiny extra stuff in favor of the Real Air Spit however: the RAF West Malling base.

Conclusion: buy them both, or let your preference between early and late mark Spitfires decide

Gotta agree with the "get them both "crew.
I have both but had the Shockwave/A2A Spit first.
Was worried it (MK1)may become obsolete but I was very wrong, it's very worthwhile as a fine example of the early marques.

I own both A2A and RealAir and have to admit that I really enjoy RealAir's Doppler sound pofile for the Griffon engine - but aside from that, I keep climbing back in the A2A version because the cockpit visuals are so much richer in texture and detail. RealAir has some great exterior work, but A2A's visuals and attention to detail are second to none in my book.
