Did the me-109 have a cabin air bleed heating system?

Post by stalkervision »

I was arguing over at "the zoo" that I could find no evidence for it. The 109 G-k has a vent that I believe is a fresh air feature but has no heating function. You guys are real experts here. In your research on the me-109 did you run across this feature? I know the Germans had electrically heated flying boots and suits but have never seen a cabin heating system.

Thanks S/V

S/V,

I am not a 109 expert, but from the cockpits we've seen and diagrams we have, I don't see any sign of a cabin heater all the way up to the K. This doesn't mean there was not a field mod for this, however.

I've found no single evidence of such heating system during researching. The research was focused on early 109 - "B", "D" and "E" - so, my opinion doesn't refer to later versions, which, I dare to say, are different aircrafts where "F" serves as a bridge.

What I did find was a device for heating the flying suit.

I know of ventilation systems - in later versions - that heats up / defogs the front armoured glass.

Thanks tremendously guys. I can't find any sign of any heating system whatsoever in any literature/manuals except for a flight suit heater either.

ventilation system yes on the later models as you said. :)
