Booster Pump?

Post by GT182 »

For pre-takeoff Check, it says to "Turn the booster pump to emergency" for the 51, 47, Spitfire and Zero. I've looked thru the cockpit of the the 51 and 47 but don't see a switch anywher for it. Scott, where is it located?

The only WWII Fighters a/c that doesn't require the boost pump on is the 109.

Btw, they all look magnificent. This is Shockwave's shinning glory and will be a benchmark for all FS9 addons to try and match. JWD guys, you all did a great job. ~S!~

On the Jug, it's the red switch on the panel beneath the throttle quadrant...not sure where it is on the P-51.

From the P-47 Pilot Training Manual: "The booster pumps have an emergency speed controlled by a rheostat on the main switch panel, to take care of any falling off of pressure. Normally, the indicator points to START & ALTITUDE. To get emergency boost, turn the rheostat to the right until the pressure rises to normal..."

Of course, in MSFS9, there are only two settings: ON and OFF.

Thanks for the info A-U on the Jug. I just went back to the Zero, Spit and 51 but still can't find it on them.

Just checked the P-51...it's on the row of switches just below the altimeter, to the right of the OIL DILUTER switch (which doesn't work in MSFS :( ), the STARTER and PRIMER...

Unfortunately, my WW2 Fighters hasn't arrived yet, so I can't help with the Spit or the Zero...

The F-51 Flight Handbook says only the early models had NORMAL, OFF, and EMERGENCY positions...the later versions had OFF & ON.

In the A6M5, it's in the VC directly under the oil pressure gage on the right side of the panel.
