Realistic P51 gear door behavior

Post by Scott - A2A »

If you let a P51 sit for too long w/ the engine off, the doors will start to creep open over time as hydraulic pressure bleeds off (this shot is after about 10 min or so)

If you pull the hydraulic release handle (emergency gear), this will release all pressure and the doors will drop quickly.

Start the engine, hydraulic pressure increases, and the doors come back up:

Great stuff Scott.

I've been hoping this would be modelled accuratley on an FS P51 someday! :D

Is this the final build of the WWII Fighters P51?

Cheers

Nice! I'm wondering when Scott is going to purchase his own P-51 or some other warplane. Please Scott you deserve it.

What nobody seems to have noticed is that you get a pretty good look at the improved windscreen in some of these shots as well. 8)

Bump!

Thought some of you might not have seen these shots of a real, restored Mustang in the same scheme as the WW2 Fighters beauty shots.
