Hey folks, I just found out that you folks create aircraft also. I've had your 3D lights for months now and somehow missed the aircraft section.  You have very, very nice aircraft available. I was wondering if the aircraft in the WWII Bundle are the same exact aircraft and liveries as the Solo Packs, especially the P 51 D Mustang? I see some aircraft listed as "variants", which one is better/most up-to-date? And, are they Acc/SP2/DX10 compatible? I'm really interested in your products. They look and sound SUPER!!! Thanks!

Dave

If I understand your question correctly, most of the bundles are not the same models that are sold as Solo downloads.

The P-51D/H pack for FS2004 was the first Flight Simulator product released by this company. It has two versions of the Mustang and several paint schemes for each. This began the Wings of Power series.

A few years later, the P-51D model was rebuilt and re-released as part of the Wings of Power II series. This version has only been released with only one official paint scheme. You'll find this model on the WWII Fighters: Special Edition CD-ROM, both the Aircraft Power Pack and Aircraft Power Pack 2 DVDs, and as an individual purchase in the Solo series. Incidently, the paint scheme on the new Mustang was not available with the original multi-pack.

The P-47 Thunderbolt pack for FS2004 was the second Wings of Power product. This pack had multiple variants of the razorbacked and bubletopped P-47D, and models plus multiple skins for the P-47M, P-47N and XP-72.

Later, a single razorback P-47D model and skin was released as part of the Wings of Power II series. This is the version that is found on the WWII Fighters: Special Edition CD-ROM, the Aircraft Power Pack 2 DVD, and as an individual purchase in the Solo series.

The most recent A2A Simulations release is the Wings of Power III Thunderbolt. This is a rework of the previous P-47 razorback model. The package comes with about a half-dozen skins, all of which (except one) are completely new.

These packs and versions are probably the most confusing to sort out. I hope the above answer helps.

As for DX10 and Acceleration/SP2 compliant, none of the FS2004 packs are. The FSX products are mixed; some of the earlier models now have patches to update them.

* The Wings of Power: Heavy Bombers and Jets CD and Aircraft Power Pack DVD are not updated for SP2/Acceleration/DX 10.
* The WWII Fighters: Special Edition CD is not SP2/Acceleration/DX 10 ready but three of the planes can now be patched to make them so.
* On Aircraft Power Pack 2 only the P-40 is a true FSX model. I don't know if it is SP2/DX10 compliant.
* The B-17G download is an early FSX release and I don't think it has been patched for SP2/DX10.
* The P-40 pack is an FSX-only release. I don't know what version it was built under but I don't think there have been any update patches for SP2/DX10.
* The Wings of Power II Bf109E Solo version has been updated for SP2/DX10. You can upgrade the CD/DVD version of this plane with a patch.
* The Wings of Power II Spitfire Solo version has been updated for SP2/DX10. You can upgrade the CD/DVD version of this plane with a patch.
* The Wings of Power II P-47D Thunderbolt Solo version has been updated for SP2/DX10. You can upgrade the CD/DVD version of this plane with a patch.
* The Wings of Power II P-51D Mustang Solo version is not updated for SP2/DX10. You will experience small panel glitches but otherwise it is completely flyable.
* The Wings of Power III P-47D Thunderbolt is built for SP2/Acceleration.

Your explaination is so complete that it aleviated any follow-up questions. 8) You provided all of the exact information I need. Thanks a bunch for the info and thanks for serving the country. Hoo-Yah!!!

Oh, and, I figured out how I missed the aircraft section. I purchased the 3D lights pack from the shockwave site.
